When it comes to holiday cooking, is there really ever a bad dish? Unless your family member makes a Rachel from “Friends”-level mistake and puts meat in a dessert, most of us are like Joey on Christmas Day. Breakfast casserole? Good! Prime rib? Good! Christmas cookies? Good!

But, as with all things, one recipe always stands out as the most popular of the year. So, do you want to know the one the Allrecipes community loved the most last year? And, no, this isn’t just which dish went the quickest; we actually have the stats to back it up.

We dug into the recipe Allrecipes users saved to their profiles the most during December last year—and it’s an oldie but a goodie. So, get ready to save it to your profile for this Christmas morning, too.

Our Most Saved Christmas Recipe From Last Year

Our most saved recipe from the 2022 holiday season was this Easy Cinnamon Rolls recipe. Because what’s Christmas morning without cinnamon rolls?

Sure, there’s no denying that canned cinnamon rolls are easier to make than any homemade recipe. But, we promise, you’ll be able to taste the difference in these buttery, sweet, walnut-filled cinnamon rolls with a vanilla glaze.

Plus, they actually are easier than most homemade cinnamon roll recipes because they start with store-bought frozen bread dough. That means you don’t have to make a yeast dough from scratch, all you have to do is thaw out the bread dough, roll it out, and let it rise for about 90 minutes after you fill it with the cinnamon-sugar mixture.

From there, bake up these sweet rolls and be prepared to have no leftovers.

Looking to make our Easy Cinnamon Rolls even easier? Why not?

You can absolutely make this recipe the day before and either store the prepped dough in the fridge overnight or let the prepared rolls rise overnight. If you let them rise, they’ll get extra large—but either way, you won’t have to worry about Christmas morning prep.

Reviewer Amanda Cleland has another tip, and that’s to freeze the rolls after they rise.

“I showed this recipe to a pastry chef to get some extra tips. [She said to] put [them in the] freezer to freeze overnight and then take out in the morning and put into the oven frozen to bake. She said baking frozen pastries makes all the difference. It sure did,” home cook Amanda Cleland said.

Additionally, if you’re looking for a little more flavor in the filling, one reviewer recommends adding some orange zest.

“I added fresh orange zest (from 2 navel oranges) to the cinnamon-nut mixture. Everybody loved that,” said Allrecipes user slugger.

No matter how you make them, however, these 5-star cinnamon rolls are sure to brighten Christmas morning around the tree.
