Mint Julep Sweet Tea

This mint julep sweet tea is a refreshing, cool-me-down drink made with bourbon and sweet tea. I muddle 4 mint leaves in each glass for extra mint flavor. It’s optional, but I think it really adds to the drink.

Ingredients

Original recipe (1X) yields 4 servings

  • 3 cups water

  • 3/4 cups fresh mint

  • 1/2 cup sugar

  • 4 tangerine orange herbal tea bags, such as Celestial Seasonings® Tangerine Orange Zinger

  • 6 fluid ounces bourbon

  • 16 mint leaves, optional

  • 4 slices lemon

Directions

  1. Bring water, the 3/4 cup mint, and sugar to a boil in a saucepan. Remove from heat and add tea bags. Steep for 1 hour.

  2. Strain mixture into a pitcher and add bourbon. Stir until combined.

  3. Muddle 4 mint leaves in a glass. Fill halfway with ice, add a lemon slice, and fill with more ice. Add tea bourbon mixture; garnish with a mint sprig and a lemon wedge.
