Allrecipes' editorial guidelines Updated on September 18, 2023 Earlier this year, McDonald’s changed the way it made its classic burgers. Buns got softer and toasted. Cheese got meltier. Onions got lightly caramelized on the grill. And if the classic burger you ordered was a Big Mac, the Big Mac sauce got tweaked, too. Even the grill itself was improved so burgers came off with a better, hotter sear. Photos: Getty Images. Zackary Angeline/Dotdash Meredith If you’ve tried these improved burgers and love them, or if you haven’t tried them yet but are curious to know if they really are better, mark Sept. 18 on your calendar. That Monday is officially National Cheeseburger Day, and McDonald’s has a deal that sets its iconic Double Cheeseburger price back decades. But you'll need modern technology to score the deal. McDonald's A Perk of Using the McDonald’s App On Sept. 18, customers can get a Double Cheeseburger for only 50 cents from any participating location nationwide. The deal is available exclusively through the McDonald’s app, so you’ll need to download the app if you want the deal. More and more, fast-food and fast-casual restaurants send customers to their apps (or sometimes their websites) to take advantage of money-saving deals. Orders through apps are convenient for the restaurant, ensure the customer’s order is recorded accurately, and give the establishments a chance to collect marketing data that helps them understand what their customers want. The McDonald’s app is free to download, and no other purchase is necessary to get the 50-cent Double Cheeseburger with its two beef patties topped with pickles, onions, ketchup, mustard, and two slices of cheese. Any McDonald’s McDelivery fees will apply should you choose delivery, but you’ll incur no extra fees if you pick up in person. You can add on the fast-food chain’s hard-to-resist fries, a Coke that’s better than other Cokes, a shake, or any other items at the full menu price. The offer is good one time only on Sept. 18, 2023, at participating restaurants. Was this page helpful? Thanks for your feedback! Tell us why! Other Submit
