Just like when I was a kid. I do add bacon to the recipe. Delicious, and maybe... some ketchup.

I love this recipe. I have been making it for a few years now and generally stick to the script. I will say that I do like to use lite beer instead of water.

Very good. I skipped the potato, celery and marjoram. Added another cup of peas and swapped out the water for my home made ham stock. Also I tripled the recipe and canned a great deal of it. Yum!

Great recipe. We have been making this in big batches from our garden. I double the roux because we like it a little thicker. We have been canning this and are all stocked up for the winter! “So Good!!!”

Im a good cook, but baking and confections are very foreign to me. I bought a candy thermometer and my daughter and I went crazy making batch after batch. We made caramel apples, candies, salted, and some with bacon. Great recipe and a lot of sticky fun!
