Great flavors Easy to follow I made this recipe for our heritage day luncheon at work. Everybody love them. It was the first time making stuffed cabbage. I'm happy with the results Helpful (1) Allrecipes Member reviewed Jillian’s Homestyle Stuffed Peppers Recipe. August 2024 OK with tweaks I have been making stuffed peppers for years. The only problem I have run into is that, now people are so health conscious that they have removed most of the fat from the meat. With the loss of fat, so went some of the flavor. So I believe I have solved the problem of ending up with meat stones in the peppers. Most stores make a meatloaf mix, 1/3 veal; 1/3 pork; and 1/3 beef. This adds moisture and flavor. With this 1 alteration this recipe is perfect. Helpful (0) Carol West reviewed Jillian’s Halupki (Stuffed Cabbage) Recipe. August 2024 This is how I make mine (Hungarian descent). The only change I make is to take about 2 slices of bacon and boil it in water with a garlic clove and bay leaf. This makes a stock which I combine with the tomato sauce at the end. The bacon is then placed on top of the cabbage rolls. While mixing the filling, I usually add about 2 drops of liquid smoke. If you love grilled cheese give this method a try -you won't be disappointed! Helpful (1) Meatloaf Grilled Cheese Sandwich 11/16/2016 Great combination of two American classics! I had leftover meatloaf from "Cottage Meatloaf" from this site and since I was down to my last slice I thought I'd give this recipe a try and I'm glad I did. I typically have my meatloaf sandwich cold so this was a nice change of pace. I used thick cut white bread and opted for a mayo vs. mustard. I left the cheese off the outside of the bread as I thought that as a bit of cheese "overkill". It went great with a side of kettle cooked chips and a dill pickle. If you love meatloaf and you love grilled cheese this recipes is a definite must try! Helpful (2) Baked Peaches 'n Cream 02/09/2016 YUM! Quick, easy and delicious - all the taste without a lot of effort! My husband LOVES peaches 'n cream so I thought I'd give this a try and I'm glad I did. Typically we like to grill peaches, but since it was freezing outside the oven method worked just as nice. You could easily turn this into a "crisp " of sorts with the addition of a little oatmeal thrown into the mix. I crumbled a few shortbread cookies over top before serving. My husband had his with vanilla ice cream and a dollup of whipped cream on top! Helpful (3) Slow Cooker Chicken Pot Pie Stew 02/09/2016 Excellent! And, I must say that I have never really been a "fan" of chicken pot pie however my husband is and since it's cold and snowing outside I figured this would be the perfect day to fire up the crock pot for some good old-fashioned "comfort food". Like others, I used what I had on hand - basically eyeballed everything and cut back on the salt . I used two large chicken breasts, no potatoes, a handful of baby carrots, minced garlic vs. garlic salt, celery seed vs. celery, 1/2 tsp. black pepper, a couple of bouillon cubes, some low sodium chicken broth, a little milk , a little white wine along with the canned soup and frozen mixed veggies. The smell was nothing short of awesome and to thicken it up a bit at the end I just left the top off the crock pot for an hour. I served this over PA Dutch pot pie noodles and YUM - creamy and very filling! This definitely warms you up on a cold winter evening! Helpful (1) Geraldine's Oatmeal Raisin Cookies 02/09/2016 Wow!!! These cookies are absolutely fabulous! A slight crunch on the outer edges and chewy on the inside, while maintaining a nice moistness...everything you'd expect from a really good oatmeal raisin cookie! I used butter flavored shortening and added a tsp. of cinnamon just for a hint of spice and since I didn't have walnuts on hand I used a full cup of golden raisins. These baked up beautifully and made the whole kitchen smell divine! This is definitely a "go-to" recipe and one that I'll make again and again! Definitely have a cold glass of milk because you can't eat just one!
