A keeper! Great flavors Easy to follow

OK with tweaks
I have been making stuffed peppers for years. The only problem I have run into is that, now people are so health conscious that they have removed most of the fat from the meat. With the loss of fat, so went some of the flavor. So I believe I have solved the problem of ending up with meat stones in the peppers. Most stores make a meatloaf mix, 1/3 veal; 1/3 pork; and 1/3 beef. This adds moisture and flavor. With this 1 alteration this recipe is perfect.

This is how I make mine (Hungarian descent). The only change I make is to take about 2 slices of bacon and boil it in water with a garlic clove and bay leaf. This makes a stock which I combine with the tomato sauce at the end. The bacon is then placed on top of the cabbage rolls. While mixing the filling, I usually add about 2 drops of liquid smoke.

***Pro tip***. Add 1 pack of Lipton onion soup mix to the rice meat and egg mixture no need for any other seasonings 2 Cans of Campbell’s tomato soup and instead of water use tomato juice. Top with 3 strips of uncooked bacon before cooking
