November 2024 SusanVey reviewed pomfamilycooks’s The Best Cherry Pie. November 2024 Loved it. I made it for a friend too and am waiting for their response. Nice balance of flavors. VERY EASY TO MAKE! I used two and a half cans of cherries. Definitely dotted plenty of butter on it. Took some of the cherry juice to paint the crust and then sprinkled sugar over it. That was the only change I made to the recipe. And of course I used my own crust - with lard and butter. Helpful (0) Ratings & Reviews 41 see all The Best Cherry Pie 11/28/2024 Loved it. Helpful (0) Simple Whole Wheat Bread 05/30/2023 I made three for my farmers market booth, and they all sold! I added cinnamon and raisins to one, chopped pistachios, pepitas and sunflower seeds to another, and left the third plain. I will hear this weekend from my customers what they liked and didn't like, so no feedback on that, but this recipe was easy to make, dough was easy to work with and I will be making again. Helpful (4) German Lebkuchen 11/20/2022 This is almost like my family recipe. In the intro, it says: "Lebkuchen are traditional German Christmas ginger cookies." So I thought this must be different from mine, because there is no ginger in my family recipe. Gee, there is no ginger in this recipe, either. Really need to change the intro, because it isn't a "ginger cookie." Helpful (0) Orange Scones with Orange Glaze 10/13/2022 I can't eat a lot of carbs, so I'm waiting for customer feedback on this one, but the little crumbs I tasted were fantastic. Read the reviews, many said not "orangey" enough, so I added a healthy dose of Nielsen-Massey orange extract to both the dough and the glaze. This is a winner! Thank you, Erika!! Helpful (0) Earl Grey Tea Cookies 04/05/2022 Mine didn't spread as much, needs more water, maybe. Needed to bake longer, probably because mine were thicker. To get a little color on the edges, I baked nearly 20 minutes. If I had done 2" balls, I wouldn't get nearly 24 cookies. I rolled the balls about 1.5" and some very small, less than an inch. Since I'm serving them at tea time at my booth in a Farmers Market, the small ones were very nice for handing out. Flavor is excellent, texture is good. Don't really taste the tea, but they will go over well with the Earl Grey tea we are serving today. Next time, more water so they spread better. Or maybe an extra tsp. of vanilla! That would be yummy. Helpful (0) Samhain Pumpkin Bread 11/11/2021 I used pecans rather than walnuts. Other than that, made exactly as written. The mold I used held almost the whole batch (which is for two loaves). There was enough left over to make a couple of cupcakes. We all loved it!! Helpful (0)
