I used a container of organic arugula and spinach in place of the mache. Didn't add the pistachios, as my husband doesn't like nuts in his salad, and used EVOO in place of the walnut oil. We had guests for dinner, and everyone loved this salad. Will make again - actually, maybe tonight! Helpful (0) Whole Grain Waffles 10/19/2008 These were alright, you could definitely taste that they are healthy and they are not sweet. That said, they aren't bad, especially for healthy waffles, I'm just not sure I would make them again. Helpful (0) Raspberry Oatmeal Bars 04/30/2008 These bars are so easy and delicious. I have made them twice, once with a butter cake mix and once with yellow, the butter turned out much better, I also, like some other reviewers, added a bit of milk to the mix after separating it into the bottom part and the top part. I didn't find it too sweet, perhaps this is because I used a reduced sugar raspberry jam from Trader Joe's and then sprinkled a few chocolate chips on top of the jam. I made it in a tart pan the first time and liked the result better than the suggested square pan. Cut into wedges and it is actually pretty elegant looking and certainly tastes homemade. Helpful (2) Pfeffernuesse Cookie Mix 04/09/2008 I have been making these for years and everyone adores them, the only change I have made is to only cook them 8-9 minutes, 12 is much too long, you want to take them out when they are still somewhat soft as they will harden a bit as they cool. This way you will have a softer, chewier cookie. Helpful (14) Mahogany Chicken Wings 02/03/2008 Everyone at our super bowl party enjoyed these, they are very sticky but the flavor has a nice kick and they were quite easy so I will probably make them again. I marinated them overnight and then baked them for 3/4 of the time, broiling the last few which crisped them up a bit. I also boiled the marinade like others did and added a bit of orange juice (it needed some kind of citrus). Reducing the sauce and tossing it with the wings makes all the difference, otherwise they lack the kick from the flavoring.
