Malia Brinkley 1 Recipe 21 Reviews 10 Collections Links recent activity Monika Daffron reviewed Malia Brinkley’s Sweet and Sour Chicken with Pineapple. 02/18/2022 This was a huge hit with our family! Yummy! Didn’t have green pepper, instead used 2 thinly chopped carrots. Also used pineapple tidbits instead of chunks, so more bits to go around. I recommend this yummy recipe!!! The cherries and juice really complement this dish. Huge shout-out to SaraLady19. I used her suggestions on the adjusted baking time and added that dash of nutmeg. I also halved the recipe, used 2 eggs, and omitted the milk. (Okay, I forgot the milk.) Everybody in this house rolled their eyes when they ate it. Helpful (1) Cilantro-Lime Coleslaw 07/03/2013 So awesome! Two of my favorites: cilantro and lime. I tried to be cute and measure out the ingredients, but why bother; this recipe is fool proof. I omitted the chili sauce, and added some grated carrot. Oh! I also used the "juice" from a jar of pickled jalapenos in place of the rice vinegar and served the jalapenos on the side. I just served it with some fried pork chops this time, but I bet this would be AWESOME on a pulled pork sandwich. :-) Thanks for posting! I used ham (left over from Easter) instead of bacon, and I added 1 clove of garlic. I was SUPER paranoid about scalding the milk, so I parboiled the potatoes whole before cutting them into cubes. While that was going on, I sautéed the ham, onions, and garlic. When the potatoes were just soft enough to cut, discarded the water and cubed the potatoes. I added the potatoes, onion mixture, and ham to the pot; mixed in the milk and potatoes; brought the soup up to a boil, then turned off the fire, covered the pot, and let the residual heat warm the soup through and finish the potatoes. Super easy and super yummy. :-) Helpful (7) Ono Butter Mochi 02/12/2013 Holy moley!! I don't know what those of you who didn't like it were doing, but... I think these came out GREAT. I did follow one reviewers advice and used coconut milk and evaporated milk in place of the whole milk. But, I use a whole (12 oz.) can of coconut milk, and only 1/2 cup of evaporated milk. I thought 2 1/2 cups of sugar would've been too much, but it really isn't; this butter mochi is not too sweet at all!! I probably could've baked it a little longer, but I think that's just a personal preference. Helpful (9) Quick Asian Lettuce Wraps 01/18/2013 I had been craving this for weeks, and this recipe did not disappoint. I completely omitted the rice. I was going to omit the hoisin, too, but it happened to be on sale. I'm glad I didn't! This recipe would've been lacking a lot of oomph without it. It wasn't the neatest meal in the world to eat, but it tasted so good. Maybe nest time I'll eat it like a salad... Perhaps, fry up some won ton chips and eat it like a Chinese Taco Salad? Or, just use a more forgiving lettuce. In either case, I WILL be making these again.
