Great flavors Easy to follow Worth the effort My dog loves this. It’s easy to make. It’s definently worth the time and Nala (myDog) has food allergies and she has been on this food for a month now and has quit scratching practically all together now.Affordable too. Great flavors Worth the effort Easy to follow After trying multiple grocery brand dog foods and realizing my puppy was allergic to grains and knowing my 13 year old dog was seriously overweight I decided to try this recipe out. I spent lots of money on different food which they both refused to eat. I made this, doubled the recipe and added sweet potatoes and substituted green beans for the spinach. They BOTH ate every bite and wanted more. It was worth the cost and effort just to see them both happy, licking their bowls clean and knowing it was healthy for them! This is a great base, but I’m adding ground flax seed, chia seed, cinnamon, ginger, & turmeric. Maybe more as I continue my research. (1/2 tsp of each flax, chia & turmeric. 1/4 tsp cinnamon & ginger added to each meal. Helpful (3) april reviewed nursekja’s Homemade Grain-Free Dog Food Recipe. August 2024 A keeper! I wanted her off dog food and onto good quality food and to lose a bit of weight if possible. Everyone is asking how much to feed homemade food. I have researched this and a good rule is: dogs weight in poundsX10grams. So if your dog is 50 lbs that would be 500grams per day and you would divide it into 250grams per feed. That’s what I’m doing however my dog is about 80lbs and I want her to be 60-70 lbs so I’m feeding her the grams for the desired weight. I confirmed this with my vet and he was happy with this plan. She seems much more satisfied on this food! Thank you for the recipe. The only thing I did differently is used peas instead of spinach because I know she likes peas. And instead of the sunflower oil I added a dog omega oil supplement and a dog multivitamin supplement on top right before each serving. Best if the cherries are well drained before putting on the cookies then completely covered with the chocolate before baking. Keeps the cherries a little moist and really brings out the cherry flavor. Then, you don't have very much extra chocolate frosting left. They really expand when cooking, about double the size. So, keep them small and space them out well. Recipe really makes about 24 cookies.
