Helpful (0) Rainbow Cookies 12/24/2015 Great tasting cookie. Very soft, moist and pretty! However, I'm going to make a few recommendations and FYIs based on several issues I encountered my first time making these. (1) Add 1 tsp almond extract into the wet mixture. This will enhance the flavor. (2) The cookie batter is runny and very sticky. Try to spread the batter out as evenly as possible. Another user recommended non-stick spray in the baking pan instead of parchment paper. I will try that next time. The parchment paper makes it hard to evenly spread out the batter. (3) When spreading the jam on the cookie layers, USE A THIN LAYER OF JAM. Too much jam, along with an uneven cookie layer will make things messy and difficult when cutting. (4) When spreading the chocolate layer on top, USE A THIN LAYER OF CHOCOLATE. If you do not, your cookies will be destroyed. My cookies were ruined because I missed a thick spot of chocolate. I cut into it and crack, crack, crack across the top and the layers separated as I tried to break through the chocolate. The next time I make these, I will try cutting from the bottom of the cookie rather than deal with the hard chocolate shell on the top. Helpful (0) Apple Cider Sauce and Pork Loin Chops 08/01/2015 Tender and moist, but bland pork chop. Hubby and I weren't wowed over this dish. I didn't use the sauce. A word of caution if using apple juice/cider concentrate: WATCH THE STOVE CAREFULLY! There was too much sugar in the brand of concentrate I bought and the sauce burned within minutes over medium heat. Helpful (0) California Roll Salad 05/26/2011 Great salad! My boyfriend and I loved this dish! We made the following additions: dried nori strips, sesame seeds and flying fish roe. This tastes just like a california roll. The salad dressing really does the trick. Great for a picnics and potlucks! Helpful (2) Cabbage Fat-Burning Soup 01/12/2011 This works for weight loss but, I hate tomato soup and cabbage! For those looking to lose weight with this, here is what I recommend: 1. make soup as directed. use a bag of shredded cole slaw mix to save some time 2. after soup has cooled, puree in a blender. 3. drink 1 full glass as a meal replacement. best to replace lunch and dinner. if you replace breakfast and lunch, eat a sensible healthy low fat dinner. basically, think the slim fast plan but use this soup as the smoothie. it will work. Helpful (24) Coconut Curd Junket 07/25/2010 Pretty good recipe. Not sure what the other reviewer was expecting, but this is meant to taste light and not artificial. A lot of people are used to strong coconut-flavored items that contain a lot of coconut oil and artificial flavors. Since this recipe is made with Agar, the texture will be different than JELLO. Recipe worked well for me and my friends.
