How It Works

Share daily life with farmers and growers

Wondering how it works?  WWOOFers step into the daily life of  their host family to learn about agro-ecological and sustainable farming methods through hands-on experience. Hosts offer accommodation and meals with no money exchanged between hosts and WWOOFers.

WWOOF provides you with a way to learn about organic food, agriculture, and sustainable ways of living. You will also have the opportunity to meet local people, make friends and create new connections with the land.

WWOOF is organized on a national basis, so first choose your destination and then sign up with that local WWOOF group.

Who are WWOOF hosts?

Our hosts pursue and promote a wide variety of organic and sustainable lifestyles worldwide. Some are individuals or families who cultivate organic produce for themselves, some are communities where each person contributes to make their collective to be as self-sufficient as possible, and others earn a living from organic farming.

What will you do as a WWOOFer?

As a WWOOFer, you will have the opportunity to try many different tasks such as planting, harvesting, making compost, animal care, helping with eco-construction projects and much more. You will learn by doing and will get familiar with organic agriculture and sustainable living. The wide range of different hosts and activities ensures that you will find a place that suits you.

Testimonials
{I just wanted to thank you and others at WWOOF for your work. At a healthy and physically fit 67 years, I can’t express all that I’ve gained by working around five hours every day in the garden or on the farm, learning new skills and about best organic practices, and most importantly conversing with […]{

{I had an incredible month at Magic Forest Farm gardening, harvesting mushrooms, learning to spin goat fiber, and cooking and baking in my free time. The farm tasks vary so there are lots of options for anyone who is interested in dipping their toes into homesteading. As a first time wwoofer, I could not have […]{

{The most important reason to receive volunteers at my place is that I have travelled and learned a lot myself too, and now I feel it is my time to give this back. I don’t even really need the help, I just want to share and show people{

I participated in the daily life of this one, very kind, surrounded by children, simplicity and animals in freedom. I found calm and rest there. By accompanying him, I discovered a country, a culture and its traditions. Every morning, while […]{

{It was so much more than just a WWOOFing experience. Being at Laurie’s and Nita’s felt like visiting your favorite aunt, who always has a warm smile waiting for you. The kindness, laughter, and generosity they shared created a place that wasn’t just about WWOOFing—they offered parts of themselves, with their humor, wisdom, and open […]{

{We are students and first time WWOOFers who took a semester off; we could not have asked for a better experience. We were there for 2.5 months with about 15 WWOOFers (many of whom became lasting friends) who’ve inspired us to see the world differently. Jeremy is an exceptional host, endlessly generous; the farm work […]{

{>We went to this farm as a group of friends and for our first WWOOF-ing experience, we couldn’t have asked for a better place. There were new experiences every day and so much to learn, on top of being a beautiful place to stay in. Despite the hard work, every task we got was fulfilling […]{
{Andrea and Viktor were so welcoming and I had a great time getting to know them! I came out of this experience having learned everything I hoped to and more. I already miss life there; the food was delicious, their farm is beautiful and so is all of Gotland, their cats are the cutest, what’s […]{
