Zamboanga City (Zamboangueño Chavacano: Ciudad de Zamboanga) is a highly urbanized city located in Mindanao, Philippines. It has a population of 807,129 people as of the 1 May 2010 census. Zamboanga is the 6th most populous and 3rd largest city by land area in the Philippines. It is the commercial and industrial center of the Zamboanga Peninsula Region.
For historical and statistical purposes, Zamboanga City is grouped with the Province of Zamboanga del Sur, of which it formerly was the capital, but governed independently from the province.
Zamboanga used to be known as Jambangan in the Subanen language and was the center of the Subanen culture during the pre-Hispanic times. After independence from Spain in May 1899, Zamboanga became the Republic of Zamboanga with Zamboangueño Chavacano as its official language and Spanish as its co-official language. After American intervention, the republic incorporated into the Philippines and became the capital of the former Moro Province, now Mindanao, from 1903 to 1913. On October 12, 1936, Zamboanga became a chartered city under Commonwealth Act No. 39. It was formally inaugurated on February 26, 1937, which was declared a local holiday. Known for Hispanic influences in its culture, it bears the nickname "Asia's Latin City."

PHILIPPINES BUILDING the BIGGEST MOSQUE in SOUTHEAST ASIA! (Zamboanga Mindanao)
THE BIGGEST MOSQUE IN SOUTHEAST ASIA IS ABOUT TO BE IN THE PHILIPPINES!
I had no clue this was being built along the road in Zamboanga City! I start off staying at LM Metro Hotel, and catching a workout at the gym with some friendly locals. From there, I begin the drive home across Mindanao. Just after leaving the city center, I noticed the Sadik Grand Mosque being built! It is huge, and it is beautiful! Certainly will be incredible when finished. From Zamboanga City, I pass through Ipil and make my way to Buug.
Turns out there is an awesome farm to table cafe called "badsbro"... and definitely was great for a stop over to fuel up with fresh lettuce, great coffee, and all sorts of delicious treats!

WE ARE ARRIVED BACK IN ZAMBOANGA CITY, BUT ONLY HAD A DAY BEFORE LEAVING TO DAVAO...
In this video, we stroll around Zamboanga on a tricycle. Starting at the Garden Orchid Hotel, we find ourselves downtown visiting the City Hall. I love the architecture... and the unique food you can find! Speaking of that, we found a great Malaysian eatery, and enjoyed some of the diverse and delicious food. Of course, it was a must as well to eat knickerbocker!
Before flying out to Davao, we stop by the International Barter market, with goods coming from different countries.
Zamboanga City is full of good vibes. It is beautiful, fun, and somewhere I love to stroll around when visiting!

I stay overnight in Pagadian, and then find myself heading through the town of Tukuran.
Another adventure drive across Mindanao... and a freaking ginormous beautiful Mosque being built!

THE EXCEPTIONAL HISTORY OF ASIA'S LATIN CITY AWAITS!
In 1635, the Spanish government set foot on Jambangan Bunga, which means a place full of flowers. Today, it is called Zamboanga City, the only Spanish-based creole in Asia.
Zamboanga City offers various choices for outdoor and cultural adventures - from island hopping to traditional weaving.

I stay overnight in Pagadian, and then find myself heading through the town of Tukuran.
Another adventure drive across Mindanao... and a freaking ginormous beautiful Mosque being built!
POWER ON!
