York Armory is a historic National Guardarmory located at York, York County, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1913, and is a two-story brick building executed in the Late Gothic Revival style. The drill hall is located on the second floor above the administrative area. It is five bays by six bays in size. A brick maintenance shop was added behind the building in the 1950s.
York (i/ˈjɔːrk/) is a historic walled city at the confluence of the rivers Ouse and Foss in North Yorkshire, England, and is the traditional county town of Yorkshire to which it gives its name. The city has a rich heritage and has provided the backdrop to major political events in England throughout much of its two millennia of existence. The city offers a wealth of historic attractions, of which York Minster is the most prominent, and a variety of cultural and sporting activities making it a popular tourist destination for millions.
In the 19thcentury, York became a hub of the railway network and a confectionery manufacturing centre. In recent decades, the economy of York has moved from being dominated by its confectionery and railway-related industries to one that provides services. The University of York and health services have become major employers, whilst tourism has become an important element of the local economy.
Torsten Stenzel began his musical career early in his childhood, learning the piano from the age of five when he began his classical training. In the early 1990s his musical orientation changed, and he discovered the growing techno/house movement. He built his own recording studio. Torsten Stenzel is credited for several gold and platinum awards, an 'Echo' nomination and over three million record sales.
Jörg Stenzel has, since the age of eleven, been interested in stringed instruments, the guitar in particular. The two brothers combined their talents in 1997 and project 'York' was born.
York has released four successful UKsingles. Their first single, "The Awakening", reached #11 in the UK Singles Chart in October 1999. Their second single, "On The Beach" (which sampledChris Rea's song, "On The Beach") was their biggest hit, the 'CRW edit' helped the single to reach #4 in the UK chart in June 2000, and it sold over 200,000 copies. The next chart entry "Farewell To The Moon" reached #37 in November 2000. Their final UK hit single to date was "The Fields of Love" which featured ATB. It reached #16 in January 2001.
York (1770–1822) was an African-American slave best known for his participation with the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Enslaved by William Clark, he performed hard manual labor without pay, but participated as a full member of the expedition. Like many other expedition members, his ultimate fate is unclear. There is evidence that after the expedition's return, Clark had difficulty compelling York to resume his former status, and York may have later escaped or been freed, but nothing is entirely clear on this.
Early and family life
York was born in Caroline County near Ladysmith, Virginia. He, his father, his mother (Rose) and younger sister and brother (Nancy and Juba), were enslaved by the Clark family. York was William Clark's servant from boyhood, and was left to William in his father's will. He had a wife whom he rarely saw, and likely lost contact with her after 1811 when she was sold/sent to Mississippi. It is not known if York fathered any children.
Keystone Kidspace is an exciting project that will bring innovative family programming to the York community. We believe every child and teen should have access to experiences, peers and mentors that will ignite their curiosity and teach them new skills. Opening to the public in 2020, Keystone Kidspace will offer a mash-up of science, technology, arts and movement opportunities and give our kids permission to get messy, tinker, experiment and create. At Keystone Kidspace, kids will “play with purpose.”

BBC News The Armory Show The art exhibition that shocked US in 1913
One hundred years ago in New York City, an exhibition of paintings revolutionised the North American art world.
The Armory Show of 1913 introduced US audiences to the great masters of modern European art for the first time and gave young American artists an opportunity to show their work alongside them.
To mark the show's centenary, The New-York Historical Society is putting many of these masterpieces on display once again and has published a book - "The Armory Show at 100 - Modernism and Revolution" - to shed more light on this landmark exhibition.
The book is co-authored by Kimberly Orcutt and Marilyn Kushner. Michael Maher spoke to Ms Kushner, the curator of American Art at the New-York Historical Society.

This is a segment of my documentary-in-progress titled, "Random Acts of Beauty: The Story of Dada." The 1913 Armory show in New York introduced Americans to European modern art, and boy was it a shocker! In terms of Dada, the Armory Show introduces us to two artists who figure prominently in the Dada Movement; Marcel Duchamp and Francis Picabia.

Terrible Merchandise from "The Armory" 29 Stonegate, York, UK
Purchased this miniature model of Roman Lorica style body armor to be shipped back to me in the U.S. from "The Armory" at 29 Stonegate in York UK, near the "Shambles". It was in the store window with an accompanying mini model of a Roman Centurion's helmet and on a nice little wooden stand for 130 GBP. I then learned it was then misplaced at the store for more than a month, but was ultimately sent to me after I called to inquire and had posted a complaint on their Google page. It arrived 2 weeks later (today) packaged in very flimsy cardboard! It was also incomplete! Although the main portion was fully wrapped in bubble wrap it was still scratched, damaged, in rough shape AND with no stand or helmet!!! What a ripoff!! Beware this incompetent merchant!!!
The customer service is terrible!!!

A well-known historic building in the Bronx is about to get a makeover that's been a long time coming. Lawmakers have a multimillion dollar plan in place to revitalize the nearly 6,000 square feet of the Kingsbridge Armory. CBS News New York's Naveen Dhaliwal has the details.
