York is a former municipality within the current city of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is located northwest of Old Toronto, southwest of North York and east of Etobicoke, where it is bounded by the Humber River. As a separate city, it was one of six municipalities that amalgamated in 1998 to form the current city of Toronto. The City of York was created by the amalgamation of several villages, including the present day neighbourhoods of Lambton Mills and Weston.
History
York Township was incorporated by Canada West in 1850 (Canada West later became Ontario in 1867 due to the Confederation), bounded in the west by the Humber River, in the east by what would become Victoria Park Avenue, and in the north by what would become Steeles Avenue. Etobicoke Township and Scarborough Township were located west and east, respectively, while the townships of Vaughan and Markham bordered on the north.
Torsten Stenzel began his musical career early in his childhood, learning the piano from the age of five when he began his classical training. In the early 1990s his musical orientation changed, and he discovered the growing techno/house movement. He built his own recording studio. Torsten Stenzel is credited for several gold and platinum awards, an 'Echo' nomination and over three million record sales.
Jörg Stenzel has, since the age of eleven, been interested in stringed instruments, the guitar in particular. The two brothers combined their talents in 1997 and project 'York' was born.
York has released four successful UKsingles. Their first single, "The Awakening", reached #11 in the UK Singles Chart in October 1999. Their second single, "On The Beach" (which sampledChris Rea's song, "On The Beach") was their biggest hit, the 'CRW edit' helped the single to reach #4 in the UK chart in June 2000, and it sold over 200,000 copies. The next chart entry "Farewell To The Moon" reached #37 in November 2000. Their final UK hit single to date was "The Fields of Love" which featured ATB. It reached #16 in January 2001.
York (1770–1822) was an African-American slave best known for his participation with the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Enslaved by William Clark, he performed hard manual labor without pay, but participated as a full member of the expedition. Like many other expedition members, his ultimate fate is unclear. There is evidence that after the expedition's return, Clark had difficulty compelling York to resume his former status, and York may have later escaped or been freed, but nothing is entirely clear on this.
Early and family life
York was born in Caroline County near Ladysmith, Virginia. He, his father, his mother (Rose) and younger sister and brother (Nancy and Juba), were enslaved by the Clark family. York was William Clark's servant from boyhood, and was left to William in his father's will. He had a wife whom he rarely saw, and likely lost contact with her after 1811 when she was sold/sent to Mississippi. It is not known if York fathered any children.
This station is the busiest transportation facility in Canada, serving over 250,000 passengers a day. This is partly due to its position at the centre of Canada's busiest inter-city rail service area, the "The Corridor", which stretches from Quebec City in the east to Windsor in the west. More than half of all Canadian intercity passengers travel by way of Union Station.
Intercity train services are provided at Union Station by Via Rail and Amtrak, while commuter rail services are operated by GO Transit. The station is also connected to the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) subway and streetcar system via its namesake subway station. GO Transit's Union Station Bus Terminal, located across Bay Street from the station building, is connected via the trainshed. The Union Pearson Express train service to the airport operates from a separate UP Express Union Station located along the SkyWalk a short walk west of the main station building.
The Toronto Professional Hockey Club was Toronto's first professional ice hockey team, founded in 1906. The team played the 1906–07 season in exhibition games against other professional teams. In 1908, the team was one of the founders of the Ontario Professional Hockey League (OPHL). The club operated for two seasons in the OPHL, 1908 and 1909, before disbanding. The club challenged unsuccessfully for the Stanley Cup in 1908. They were usually referred to as the Toronto Argonauts.
On November 14, 1906, the Ontario Hockey Association (OHA) banned Bruce Ridpath, Rolly Young and Harry Burgoyne from playing with the Toronto Marlboros. The three had been receiving money to play, strictly banned by the OHA. On November 22, Ridpath announced the formation of the Toronto Pros. Ridpath would be captain, and Alexander Miln was named as manager. Miln was manager of the Mutual Street Rink and had previously managed the Toronto Wellingtons, Stanley Cup challengers in 1902. On November 24, Miln attended a meeting of the International Hockey League (IHL) and secured a place in the IHL for the Pros for the 1907–08 season. For the initial season, the Toronto Pros would play only exhibition games.
For the Canadian city of the same name, see Toronto.
Toronto is a lakeside suburb within the city of Lake Macquarie in New South Wales, Australia, approximately 28 kilometres (17mi) from Newcastle's central business district and is a commercial hub for the sprawling suburbs on the western shore of the lake. It is one of the major centres in the City of Lake Macquarie LGA.
History
Toronto was named after Toronto, Ontario, Canada, in honour of Edward Hanlan, a Canadian world-champion sculler who visited Australia in 1884.
In 1885 the Excelsior Land, Investment and Building Co. and Bank Ltd acquired a portion of Threlkelds' original 1,280 acre grant from McMahon and Whiting plus the 100ft waterfront reserve from the Crown for £13,722 and subdivided it in 1887. This subdivision coincided with the opening of the Great Northern Railway and became the basis of the future town of Toronto.
The area's subdividers, the Excelsior Company, named the land in honour of Hanlan's visit, which coincided with the opening of the subdivision. The name was not publicly used until 1887. The Canadian city's name theoretically said to have come from the Mohawk languagetkaronto, meaning where there are trees standing in the water.

North York is one of six administrative districts of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is located directly north of York, Old Toronto and East York, between Etobicoke to the west and Scarborough to the east. As of the 2016 Census, it had a population of 869,401. It was first created as a township in 1922 out of the northern part of the former township of York, a municipality that was located along the western border of Old Toronto. Following its inclusion in Metropolitan Toronto in 1954, it was one of the fastest-growing parts of the region due to its proximity to Old Toronto. It was declared a borough in 1967, and later became a city in 1979, attracting high-density residences, rapid transit, and a number of corporate headquarters in North York City Centre, its central business district. In 1998, North York was amalgamated with the rest of Metropolitan Toronto to form the new city of Toronto and has since been a secondary economic hub of the city outside Downtown Toronto.

In this video, we are going to cover the North York area; it's buzzing with great dining, beautiful trails, and many things to do. Whether you live in this area or if you are gathering information to move here, watch this video and contact me for more information on this fantastic community.
Where is North York?
North York is one of the six cities that make up the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). It's located in the northern part of Toronto. Roughly bounded by the Humber River to the west, Steeles Avenue to the North, Victoria Park Avenue to the East, and the southern boundary is roughly around Lawrence.
North York is a diverse and international-oriented neighborhood and one of the fastest growing parts of the region due to its proximity to Old Toronto. It became a city in 1979; on Valentine‘s Day, its corporate slogan was "The City with Heart". North York has been attracting high-density residences, rapid transit, and several corporate headquarters in the North York City Centre.
Is North York a good place to live?
Known as Toronto's “Second Downtown,” there are many reasons to live in North York.
One of the reasons why North York is such a great place to live is because it's close to downtown Toronto. It's also home to some of the best schools in Canada, making it an attractive area for families with school-aged children. The North York area is also growing quickly and has many new developments in the plan. There are plenty of job opportunities in the area as well, with many companies moving their offices here because of its proximity to Toronto's downtown core.
North York City Centre is the central business district of North York, located along Yonge Street between Sheppard and Finch Avenue. This place has an abundance of tall residential condominiums, office towers, banks, Canada Service Center, restaurants, coffee shops, and many shops.
North York is a beautiful and diverse neighborhood. It offers all of the amenities that you might need, including grocery stores, parks, schools, as well as public transit options. It is home to two subway lines, Yonge - University Subway line that goes north of Finch Subway Station, and another subway line from Yonge St, across Sheppard Ave East to Don Mills station. Transportation is another reason that North York is an attractive place to live and work.
New Condos in North York
You have probably noticed that many of the shopping malls, including, Yorkdale, Centre point mall, and Bayview village, are converting their parking lots into residential towers to utilize space and bring in more business into the commercial units. North York is a name for the area north of Toronto that includes many neighborhoods. Bridle Path in North York is Toronto’s most expensive neighborhood. Some of the other following luxury neighborhoods in North York are Hogg's Hollow, Willowdale, Banbury-Don Mills, and Hogg's Hollow.
North York is one of Canada’s most appealing areas today to residents of all kinds. Today the city is home to over 800 condo sites, with many new condo projects coming soon. Contact me to find out more about the upcoming developments and investment opportunities in this area. North York has many traits that make it so appealing to homebuyers and businesses. Its growing economy and high employment rate are the main contributing factors to its growth over the years. About 28% of the population of the city of Toronto resides in the area. Due to the demand for North York houses, property values have risen by over 40% in the last 3 years, making it an excellent place to invest in the Greater Toronto Area real estate.
It has many amenities and attractions that are worth checking out. North York is home to Ontario Science Centre, the Aga Khan Museum, Sprawling Downsview Park, and Edwards Gardens.
