I thought this would sit along nicely with my 870c, plus it’s a pretty unique 4WD buggy as welll.
Was really pleased yokomo decided to re-release this vintage buggy and that I got the chance to experience it, never had the chance of owning an original release so this should be pretty close. Here’s mine all finished for its first official drive and thoughts on it. Cheers 😉

Yokomo YZ-834B "Dog Fighter" Initial Impressions and thoughts. Is it any good?
Here are my (not so brief) thoughts on the second re-release from Yokomo, the 1983 YZ-834B. Also known as the Dog Fighter, this is considered to be one of the first 1/10 electric 4WD buggies commercially available.
Some unusual features of the 834B include a midship mounted motor with power transferred via a chain and gears fore and aft respectively. At the rear you'll find a gear diff, but the front uses one-way hubs. Suspension wise, up front, there's a relatively modern double wishbone mono-shock arrangement and at the rear more traditional trailing arms and mono shock. Back when this first came out, it was at the cutting edge of RC tech and its quirky styling captured the imagination of a generation of enthusiasts. After a long wait, Yokomo has finally re-released the iconic YZ-834B ...

I should mention in this video I was using an old school set up (30T brushed motor, esc and NiMH pack).
The slow mo footage really illustrates how hard the rear trailing arms/mono-shock set up are working. The front lacks any kind of anti roll bar, nevertheless I'd say it works as good as, if not better than, the setup on my Nova Fox.
As you saw, it rolled a few times. 😬 That was mostly due to the bumper catching the long(ish) grass. Fortunately no damage to report. 😮💨 Indeed, the shakedown was (almost) trouble free. I had the king pins work loose as the grub screws holding them in weren't tight enough. Fortunately the small diameter wheels prevent the king pins from coming completely out.
I also ran the 834B on an indoor carpet track, and again I was impressed how well it did. And remember this is completely stock, no mods or options. Obviously it throw in a lipo powered brushless setup and the chassis will quickly start to show its age. But, for vintage brushed class racing this would be very competitive...
just like back in the day. 😊

Yokomo YZ-834B "Dog Fighter" is a one-tenth-scale electric-powered 4WD radio-controlled vehicle made by Yokomo. The first version was introduced in 1983 for off-road racing.
