Xyliatos Dam / Φράγμα Ξυλιάτου
Xyliatos Dam is located about 35 km SW of Nicosia. It has a capacity of 1,420,000 cubic meters of water and was built in the early 80s. The purpose of its construction is to irrigate arable land for vegetables, olives, citrus and fruit trees.
The dam is built on the Lagoudera stream, a tributary of the Elia river, at a distance of about 2 kilometers south of the homonymous village.
The pines and the wild vegetation of the mountains embrace the dam and are reflected in the waters of the lake. This magnificent image can be seen either by following the perimeter path or by taking advantage of the benches placed around the fence for this purpose.

Stunning views of Xyliatos Dam by drone in Nicosia, Cyprus
Xyliatos Dam is located close to Xyliatos village in the district of Nicosia. It was built in 1980-82 on the Lagoudera River. There is a round trail around it which makes it more popular to visitors compared to other dams on the island. A short but charming route along the Xyliatos Dam outside of Nicosia, through the forest is sure to be one of Cyprus’ most relaxing trails, for hikers looking to take in the majesty of the island. The uphill trail takes you to the Xyliatos-Lagoudera road, which leads you to the starting point if you follow through the dam’s embankment. The dam is found some 45 km from Nicosia, and between the villages of Xyliatos and Lagoudera. It was constructed in 1982 and has a capacity of 14.3 million cubic meters. It is usually more than 50% full. The Xyliatos dam lake in the center of the forest creates an alpine setting. There is a picnic area just downstream and a trail going a bit more than half the perimeter of the lake.

Memi Mines, Xyliatos, Nicosia District, Cyprus 4K
The Xyliatos Mines, also known as Memi Mines, are situated in the village of Xyliatos within the Nicosia district of Cyprus. These mines were operational during two distinct periods: from 1954 to 1971 and partially during the period from 1987 to 1990. The mining process primarily involved surface excavation, yielding approximately 2,125,000 tonnes of pyrite ore with an average sulfur content of 26%. The extracted ore was then processed in an enrichment factory in Mitsero, utilizing flotation to produce concentrated sulfur. Before 1974, the final product was loaded onto ships at Karavostasi, and after that year, it was loaded at Vasiliko. Interestingly, during the late 1980s, the sulfuric acid and fertilizer factory in Vasiliko utilized the final product from these mines

Her yıl Eylül ayında Şarap Festivali düzenlenir.
Limassol, also known as Leymosun, is a city located in the southernmost part of the island of Southern Cyprus. It is also the center of the Limassol Region in the Republic of Cyprus. Limassol, a port city, is the second largest city on the island. It was established on the shores of the gulf that gave its name.
Southern Cyprus, as recognized internationally, is the Republic of Cyprus, a state established on the island of Cyprus under the guarantorship of Turkey, the United Kingdom and Greece, with a Turkish and Greek partnership, and de facto governing the southern part of the island. It is located as an island state in the Mediterranean region close to Eurasia. It borders Turkey to the north, the Middle East to the east, Egypt to the south and Greece to the west.
101,000 people live in Limassol, which has a surface area of 34.87 square kilometers. However, this number increases greatly, especially in the summer months, when tourism is developed in the city. Thanks to the Mediterranean climate that dominates the city, the summer season lasts for 8 months, from April to November. And thanks to this, Limassol attracts thousands of tourists every year. Tourism has an important place in the city and even the country's economy. There are many luxury hotels on the beach. Another factor that is effective in its economy is wine production. The importance of wine production is also reflected in festivals. The Wine Festival is held every September. Visitors have the opportunity to taste the region's best wines. Limassol, the second largest city of Cyprus, the apple of tourism's eye, claims to be both one of the most beautiful places and the most beautiful holiday destinations on the island, and it more than deserves it. In this respect, you should definitely visit the city's natural beauties, which have many places to visit and are waiting to be discovered.
