Singapore general election: Timeline to Polling Day
With the electoral boundaries report out on March 13, the next key event to look out for in Singapore's general election would be the dissolution of parliament. This must take place no later than January 2021 -- five years from the first sitting of the current parliament. Once parliament is dissolved, a writ of election is issued by the President on the same day. It specifies the date and place for the nomination of candidates. Nomination Day has to be held no earlier than five days and no later than a month after the writ of election is issued. Campaigning starts on Nomination Day, with a minimum of nine days. It's followed by Cooling-Off Day. Polling Day must be held no more than 56 days after Nomination Day. The general election must be held by April 2021.
