The Bravehearts brought baseball back to Worcester for the first time since the Worcester Tornadoes franchise was disbanded in 2012.
Team history
The team was announced as a partnership with the College of the Holy Cross on September 30, 2013. The new team's name and logo was announced on December 2, 2013, selecting the name "Bravehearts". The "hearts" in the name refer to the heart on Worcester's city seal and nickname as the "Heart of the Commonwealth".
On August 14, 2014, the Bravehearts defeated the Martha's Vineyard Sharks 1-0 at Fitton Field to clinch the FCBL Championship.
In 2015, the Bravehearts started their title defense poorly, but a concluding 8-2 run in their last ten games got them into the playoffs as the sixth seed. They went on to repeat as league champions, defeating the Bristol Blues with a tenth-inning rally in the third game of the best-of-three championship series.
Bravehearts are an East Coast hip hop group from the Queensbridgehousing projects in New York City. The group's roster originally included Jungle (born Jabari Jones, son of jazz trumpeter Olu Dara, and younger brother of hip hop star Nas), Wiz (born Mike Epps), and Horse (born E. Gray). Horse left the group in 2002, and Jungle and Wiz carried on as a duo. Wiz was in turn replaced by Nashawn, Nas' cousin.
Biography
Signed to Columbia Records as part of Nas' Ill Will Records imprint, Bravehearts first emerged in 1998, collaborating with Nas, Nature, and Trackmasters on "I Wanna Live," a song on the soundtrack to the Hype Williams film Belly. From there, the Nas protégés moved on to the Nas & Ill Will Records Presents QB's Finest compilation album, and saw their track "Oochie Wally" go gold. Jungle and Wiz then began working on their full-length debut for Columbia Records. In the meantime, they appeared on 50 Cent's mixtape-style compilation Guess Who's Back?, supporting 50 Cent and Nas on the track "Who U Rep With."
Worcester (i/ˈwʊstər/WUUS-tər) is a city and the county town of Worcestershire in the West Midlands of England. Worcester is situated some 17 miles (27km) southwest of the southern suburbs of Birmingham and 23 miles (37km) north of Gloucester, and has an approximate population of 100,000 people.
Worcester (/ˈwʊstər/WUUSS-tər, locally also i/ˈwᵻstə/WISS-tə) is a city and the historic county seat of Worcester County, Massachusetts, United States until Massachusetts disbanded county government in 1998. Named after Worcester, England, as of the 2010 Census the city's population was 181,045, making it the second largest city in New England after Boston.
Worcester is located approximately 40 miles (64km) west of Boston, and 38 miles (61km) east of Springfield. Due to its location in Central Massachusetts, amidst Massachusetts' major metropolitan regions, Worcester is known as the "Heart of the Commonwealth", thus, a heart is the official symbol of the city. However, the heart symbol may also have its provenance in lore that Valentine's Day cards were invented in the city.
Worcester was considered its own region for centuries; however, with the encroachment of Boston's suburbs in the 1970s after the construction of Interstate 495 and Interstate 290, it now marks the western periphery of the Boston-Worcester-Providence (MA-RI-NH) U.S. Census Combined Statistical Area (CSA), or Greater Boston. The city features many examples of Victorian-eramill architecture.

Spending a day in Worcester? Watch this video to see some of the best things to do in this pretty English cathedral city, including: the best places to eat and drink, Worcester Cathedral (obviously!), Edward Elgar's statue, the River Severn and "Fish Pass".
We started our day with the drive from Birmingham to Worcester (Worcestershire), which took us 45 minutes or so. We parked in the Cattle Market Car Park and paid on our phone for our stay.
We then made our way to Wayland's Yard, where Hannah's friend, Ione, works, for a delicious brunch and some coffees to kickstart our day. If your looking for a cafe to drink and eat at in Worcester, THIS is the place!
After fuelling up we visited a lot of the charity shops about town and made just one purchase (which might be a record for us!). We ...

We then made our way to the market and checked out the statue of famous English composer, Edward Elgar, who grew up in Worcester in the 19th century. After looking through the window of a beautiful antiques shop we were right next to Worcester Cathedral just as it started to rain - perfect timing! We paid the suggested donation and wandered around, spending some time in the 11th-century Norman crypt.
When the weather had cleared, we headed back out for a walk along the River Severn, where we saw some rowers, a flamingo, and had views of the Malvern Hills. We then made our way past the weir and "Fish Pass", a feat of engineering to enable the fish to swim back upstream.
We ended our day in Worcester in Impasto with some drinks, tasty Nduja pate and then pizzas! Highly recommended!

After looking through the window of a beautiful antiques shop we were right next to Worcester Cathedral just as it started to rain - perfect timing! We paid the suggested donation and wandered around, spending some time in the 11th-century Norman crypt.
