My Schizophrenia Killed My Mother | Real Stories Mental Health Documentary
This feature documentary profiles four residents of the Brockville Mental Health Centre, a forensic psychiatric hospital for people who have committed violent crimes. Four patients—two men and two women—struggle to gain control over their lives so they can return to a society that often fears and demonizes them. Shrouded in stigma, institutions like this one are places into which patients disappear from public view for years.
Four-time Emmy winner John Kastner, the director of critically acclaimed 'NCR: Not Criminally Responsible', was granted unprecedented access to the Brockville facility for 18 months, allowing 46 patients and 75 staff to share their experiences with stunning frankness.

BBC Mental A History of the Madhouse FULL DOCUMENTARY
Documentary which tells the fascinating and poignant story of the closure of Britain's mental asylums. In the post-war period, 150,000 people were hidden away in 120 of these vast Victorian institutions all across the country. Today, most mental patients live out in the community and the asylums have all but disappeared. Through powerful testimonies from patients, nurses and doctors, the film explores this seismic revolution and what it tells us about society's changing attitudes to mental illness over the last sixty years.

Haunted Graveyards : The Wicked Monk of Kenilworth
A site survey of the haunted graveyard. St Nicholas Church is located in Kenilworth, Warwickshire, England. Built in the 1120s, at the same time nearby Kenilworth Castle was constructed, by Geoffrey de Clinton, a Norman Lord. It was built upon an earlier Saxon settlement called Chinewerde.
In 1124, next to St Nicholas, an abbey was also built on what became renamed as Abbey Fields. Geoffrey de Clinton placed a curse on the land so that no secular power might strip the clergy of their land or property when he said " Take this land from The Church and be cursed by God. "
The Abbey itself was raised from Priory to Abbey in 1447 but was eventually dissolved and left a ruin during The Reformation on 15th April 1538. Today it remains a ruin and has done since 1538. The Abbey Field site remains...

Apethorpe Hall
With its own minstrels' gallery, 18th century classical library and vast Italianate gardens, Apethorpe Hall has all the trappings of a palace fit for a king. It was owned by Henry VIII and a haunt of James I, Elizabeth I and Charles I. Originally built in 1470-80 by Sir Guy Wolston, it then sold to Sir Walter Mildmay and stayed in his family for 350 years.
From the windows on the east side of the hall, it is said that Mildmay watched the arrival of Elizabeth I. Apethorpe was one of the Queen's favourite overnight stops on the Great North Road. It was also a favourite haunt of monarchs James and Charles I who enjoyed magnificent feasts of venison and wine. James I visited the home 10 times between 1614 and 1624. The restoration work uncovered a secret doorway leading from the king's ...

4K. THE MONKS KIRBY ROMAN CATHOLIC BURIAL GROUND WITH THE VANDALISED DENBIGH CHAPEL OF REMEMBRANCE. (Revisited in 2018).
Monks Kirby is dominated by the priory church of St Edith, a site of Christian worship since at least the 10th century AD.
The first church at the site is said to have been founded in 917 by Ethelfleda, daughter of Alfred the Great and the good soils, strategic location (near the meeting point of the Fosse Way and Watling Street) and size of the parish suggest it was the dominant village in this part of Warwickshire before the Norman Conquest. In the tenth century, the village was on the frontier between the Viking controlled Danelaw and Anglo-Saxon Mercia. "Kirby" is a Norse place name roughly meaning "church town" but the village is just on the west (Anglo-Saxon) side of Watling Street, (The A5) which was the formal frontier.
After the Norman Conquest, the land around Monks Kirby came into the ownership of Geoffrey de la Guerche, a Breton knight who married Aelgifu, daughter of Leofwin of Newnham, the last Saxon lord. Geoffrey rebuilt the church and gave it as a priory to the Benedictine Abbey of St Nicolas in Anjou in France, naming it in honour of the Virgin Mary and St Denis. Unusually, the text of the founding Charter for the Priory survives: The dedication took place on 1 July 1077 and the Charter tells us the names of the first monks – Geoffrey, Ranulf, Stephen, Maurice, Roger and Herman.
In 1266 Henry III granted the monks a fair at Midsummer and a weekly market. The church was substantially rebuilt in around 1380 and in 1415 Henry V transferred the priory to the Carthusians of the Isle of Axholme, Lincolnshire. The 100 years war with France also caused the dedication of the church to be changed to St Edith of Polesworth, a Warwickshire Saint (the connection with St Denis was revived in the 19th century for the chapel of St Denys, built in the neighbouring village of Pailton). The church was again altered in the late fifteenth century, and an octagonal spire added: this blew down on Christmas night, 1722.
In the reformation, King Henry VIII confiscated the assets of the priory, granting the manor of Monks Kirby to the Bishop of Ipswich, and the rectory and the advowson of the vicarage to his (the King's) foundation of Trinity College Cambridge in December 1546. The manor then changed hands several times over the following eighty years until the powerful Buckingham family passed to it to the Feildings who had been lords of neighbouring Newnham Paddox since the fifteenth century.
The Feilding family (elevated to the aristocracy as Earls of Denbigh) owned most of the village and the land around it until the mid-twentieth century. Trinity College retains the benefice and continues to be involved in the church's affairs today but divested itself of substantial landholdings around Monks Kirby following the Second World War.
Vandalism, at the Monks Kirby Roman Catholic Burial Ground and Denbigh Memorial Chapel nearby.
Earlier attacks include graves being kicked over, graffiti and top stones being stolen. The chapel has previously had its windows smashed, lead stolen from the roof and the gates damaged while dozens of names have been scratched on the outside wall.
In one sick incident a pig's liver was left on the steps and blood was spattered on the door. Lord Denbigh, aged 37, said the vandals had gone too far in destroying the altar. He said: "It makes me feel incredibly angry. My grandparents are buried at the back of the chapel and it's still very much a working graveyard.
"I just wonder at the mentality of the people who can do something like this." But Lord Denbigh said ghost hunters are not as much of a problem as the young people who hang around the cemetery in the evenings. He regularly catches youths there and asks them to move on, having photographed registration numbers of cars parked outside to hand over to police. He has also found evidence of drug taking in the cemetery. "There's only so much the police can do especially on Friday and Saturday nights when the damage seems to happen," he said.
His mother Lady Denbigh said it was very upsetting to see the altar smashed to pieces.

The Abbey Field site remains undeveloped and is open to public access. During the 20th Century there were a few attempts to develop the land but all failed. Perhaps the curse of Geoffrey de Clinton still works ? The Abbey has been excavated several times in 1840, 1880, 1922 & 1967.
The current graveyard of St Nicholas holds the ruins of the Abbey within its precincts, thus making it a haunted graveyard, though the Ghost which haunts is from the Abbey.
St Nicholas graveyard is haunted by the Ghost of a monk from the Abbey ruins - one who was in Holy Orders before the Reformation.
He has been called The Wicked Monk or The Faceless Monk due to having no discernible facial features, the inside of his hood being a hollow void. The Wicked Monk is a sinister Ghost, who seems to bear ill will against the living. The haunting seems to cover the spectrum of paranormal experience. Some people walking through the graveyard have experienced the feeling of somebody standing right behind them - only to turn to see nobody there. Other reports claim that people have actually been shoved from behind, have heard sinister whispering behind them - again when they turn to investigate, nobody is there. Other witness reports claim to have been overcome with a sense of dread, or a pressing sense of evil as they pass through the graveyard.
The thoroughfare which connects the graveyard to Bridge Street seems a source of this haunting - with most reported cases naming that path. Though The Wicked Monk has been seen around the ruined Abbey buildings, and drifting amongst the headstones.
Quite why this Ghost is so nasty and spiteful is speculation, as is why he should direct his anger at the living today - when his Abbey was ruined nearly 500 years ago. But this bitter vengeful Ghost seems to have found no peace over the centuries and has been witnessed several times.
On occaision The Wicked Monk has been known to materialise into a visual manifestation - the last recorded sighting of his visual Ghost was last seen in 1997. A dangerous spirit to try and communicate with. Best left alone. The name of The Wicked Monk is not known, nor is the exact time period he lived in. Neither is it known the original reason why he should feel so hateful and violent towards the living. But he does.
In 1858, at the outcome of an approaching storm, The Wicked Monk was seen in the graveyard, standing motionless. Later on a bolt of lightning struck the church and its spire was completely destroyed.

The Abbey Field site remains undeveloped and is open to public access. During the 20th Century there were a few attempts to develop the land but all failed.
The restoration work uncovered a secret doorway leading from the king's bedchamber to the bedroom used by his 'sweetheart' and favourite courtier George Villiers, the Duke of Buckingham.
