William Nicholson (2 September 1825 – 25 July 1909) was an English distiller and Liberal Party politician who sat in the House of Commons in two periods between 1866 and 1885, and later joined the Conservative Party. He was also an English amateur cricketer who played first-class cricket from 1845 to 1869.
Nicholson was born at Upper Holloway, London, the son of John Nicholson of Upper Clapton, Middlesex and his wife Ellen Payne daughter of Richard Payne. He was educated at Harrow School and Trinity College, Cambridge. He was a member of the family which owned the J&W Nicholson & Cogin distillery based at Three Mills. He was mainly associated with Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), of which he was a prominent member; and with Middlesex (pre-county club) and Middlesex County Cricket Club (founded during his career in 1863). He was a right-handed batsman and a wicketkeeper who made 148 known appearances in first-class matches, including a number of appearances for the Gentlemen between 1846 and 1858.
The son of Christopher Nicholson, a rich clothier, he was born at Stratford St. Mary, Suffolk, on 1 November 1591. He became a chorister of Magdalen College, Oxford, in 1598, and received his education in the grammar school attached to the college. He graduated B.A. in 1611, and M.A. 1615. He was a bible clerk of the college from 1612 to 1615. In 1614 he was appointed to the college living of New Shoreham, Sussex. He held the office of chaplain at Magdalen from 1616 to 1618. He was also chaplain to Henry Percy, 9th Earl of Northumberland, during his imprisonment in the Tower of London, from 1606 to 1621, and was tutor to his son, Lord Percy.
In 1616 he was appointed master of the free school at Croydon. He held the post till 1629, when he went to Wales, having been presented to the rectory of Llandilo-Vawr, in Carmarthenshire, in 1626. In 1644 he was made archdeacon of Brecon. The year before he had been nominated a member of the Westminster Assembly of divines, probably through the interest of the Earl of Northumberland, but he speedily withdrew, together with the most of the rest of the episcopalian clergy. When deprived of his preferments by the parliament he maintained himself by keeping a private school, which he carried on in partnership with Jeremy Taylor and William Wyatt at Newton Hall ('Collegium Newtoniense'), in the parish of Llanfihangel Aberbythych, in Carmarthenshire. One of his pupils was Judge John Powell. With Taylor, he wrote in the defence of the doctrine and discipline of the church of England, and in illustration of her teaching. His Exposition of the Apostles' Creed and Exposition of the Church Catechism were both written for the instruction of his former parishioners at Llandilo.
William Benedict Nicholson, OBE, FRSL (born 12 January 1948) is a British screenwriter, playwright, and novelist who has been nominated twice for an Oscar.
Early life
A native of Lewes, Sussex, William Nicholson was raised in a Roman Catholic family in Gloucestershire. By the time he reached his tenth birthday he had decided to become a writer. He was educated at Downside School, Somerset, and Christ's College, Cambridge.

At the start of his career Nicholson worked for the BBC as a director of documentary films with numerous works to his credit between the mid-1970s and mid-1980s. He gained renown as a novelist and playwright when the first book of his popular Wind On Fire trilogy won the Blue Peter best book award and the Smarties Gold Award for best children's book. He has written several novels and fantasy books.

How to produce hydrogen and oxgen from water|Electrolysis of water|How to make hydrogen and oxygen gas
In this video I am going to show you electrolysis of water .(oxygen and hydrogen)
Electrolysis of water is the decomposition of water into oxygen(1/2) and hydrogen gas(1) due to the flow of an electric current. It is also called water splitting.
An electrical power source(DC 9V) is connected to two electrodes(cathode and anode)which are placed in the water. Hydrogen will appear at the cathode (the negatively charged electrode), and oxygen will appear at the anode (the positively charged electrode). Assuming ideal faradaic efficiency, the amount of hydrogen generated is twice the amount of oxygen, and both are proportional to the total electrical charge conducted by the solution.

The spire of Holy Trinity soars high above the trees, visible for miles around in an idyllic corner of Hampshire. It is an extraordinary experience to find this lavishly decorated Medieval-style church with Italian marble mosaic floors in such a rural location.
Built in 1876-78, the church was funded by William Nicholson - a local benefactor and gin distiller - and designed by Gothic architect Sir Arthur Blomfield, later responsible for the Royal College of Music. WhiskyCast HD: Single Malt Whisky from Grain to Glass at Canada's Shelter Point Distillery
In the old days, distilleries were almost always part of a farm, since farmers would distill their excess grain to make some extra money. Some craft distillers are reviving that heritage, including Patrick Evans and Jim Marinus of Shelter Point Distillery on Canada's Vancouver Island. They've been distilling and maturing single malt whisky for the last couple of years and waiting for it to mature, while running the Evans family farm full-time and using the distillery to host weddings and other events.

Chemical Reaction
Cathode (reduction): 2 H2O(l) + 2e− → H2(g) + 2 OH−(aq)
Anode (oxidation): 2 OH−(aq) → 1/2 O2(g) + H2O(l) + 2 e−
Overall reaction: 2 H2O(l) → 2 H2(g) + O2(g)
Things Needed
Water
Beaker
Test tubes
Graphite rods
9V battery
Sulphuric acid (few drops)

Chemical Reaction
Cathode (reduction): 2 H2O(l) + 2e− → H2(g) + 2 OH−(aq)
Anode (oxidation): 2 OH−(aq) → 1/2 O2(g) + H2O(l) + 2 e−
Overall reaction: 2 H2O(l) → 2 H2(g) + O2(g)
Things Needed
Water
Beaker
Test tubes
Graphite rods
9V battery
Sulphuric acid (few drops)

A visit toTrinity Church a Victorian jewel set in beautiful countryside on a cold and frosty morning in December and the outside temperature was -2.5c
Blomfield used the best craftsmen of the day to produce the magnificent stonework, mosaics and stained glass.
The walls are made from warm-toned Ham Hill stone with bands of Bath stone. Marble mosaic floors run across the church and are particularly colourful in the chancel. https://www.visitchurches.org.uk
