Sir William McMillanKCMG (14 November 1850 – 21 December 1926) was an Australian politician and businessman. Alfred Deakin said he was a "thoughtful, educated businessman, narrow and cold after the manner of the Manchester School…business-like in manner and incisive in debate".
Biography
McMillan was born in Derry, Ireland, he was the fourth child and third son of Rev. Gibson McMillan, a Methodist minister. William lived in Westport and Ballina, both in County Mayo, Ireland until the age of six. In 1856, his father was assigned to the Methodist church in Abbey Street, Dublin, and William began his formal education. Along with his older brothers, John and Charles, he attended boarding school at Wesley College in St. Stephens Green. The following year, the family moved to Dún Laoghaire where his father was assigned to the Adelaide Road Methodist church, and William continued attending Wesley. Due to family financial difficulties at the time, William had to abandon any intention to attend university in Dublin, rather in 1864 he began studies at Tulse Hill School in London. He left Tulse Hill in 1866 and entered the employment of his Uncle, Alexander McArthur.
William McMillanRA (31 August 1887 – 25 September 1977) was a British sculptor and medal-designer, active in the 20th century. He is said to have been both tall and “extremely handsome”.
Life and career
He was born at 37 Powis Place, Aberdeen, Scotland, the son of William McMillan, master engraver, and Jane Knight.
In 1916, he married Dorothy, daughter of the Carlisle architect Maurice Charles Williams. They had no children.
For most of his married life he had a studio at Glebe Place in Chelsea, London and was a member of the Chelsea Arts Club. A faux blue plaque exists at 63 Glebe Place, stating “William McMillan lived here”. Even if this were the correct address, Glebe Place was his place of work not residence.
William Willard McMillan (January 29, 1929 – June 6, 2000) was a world-class American sportsshooter. Between 1952 and 1976 he competed in the 25 m rapid fire pistol event in six Olympics, missing only the 1956 Games due to malfunctioning of his weapon during the US trials. He won a gold medal at the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome and competed at five other Olympic Games.
He also won one world, five Pan American and four national titles in the rapid fire pistol and free pistol events, as well as several silver medals at all these competitions, the last two aged 50. In his career, he set two world shooting records.
From 1974–1981, he worked as a Weapons Training Coordinator at San Diego County, California. where he was injured in a shooting accident at the old Camp Elliot range.
In 1978, the Marine Corps established the McMillan Trophy for shooting in his honor.

WATCH: Michigan lawmaker says, ‘We will not let hate win’
Michigan state Sen. Mallory McMorrow, a Democrat representing suburban Metro Detroit communities, pushed back against a Republican colleague who falsely accused her of wanting to “groom and sexualize kindergarteners,” and hold 8-year-olds responsible for slavery in a fundraising email.
In an April 19 speech on the Michigan Senate floor, McMorrow denounced the campaign email from Republican state Sen. Lana Theis that suggested she was a “groomer,” a term that describes how sex offenders make contact with their victims.
"I am the biggest threat to your hollow, hateful scheme,” McMorrow said. “Because you can’t claim that you are targeting marginalized kids in the name of ‘parental rights’ if another parent is standing up to say no. So then what? Then you dehumanize and marginalize me. You...

You say that I am one of them.”
McMorrow then said she is a straight, white, Christian, married, suburban mom who was taught from a young age that Christianity and faith were about service, community and standing up for others who are marginalized and targeted.
She added that learning about slavery, redlining or systemic racism does not mean that children are taught to feel bad about themselves.
"No child alive today is responsible for slavery. No one in this room is responsible for slavery,” McMorrow said. “But each and every single one of us bears responsibility for writing the next chapter of history ... We can't pretend that it didn't happen, or deny people their very right to exist."
McMorrow concluded her five-minute speech by saying, “Hate will only win if people like me stand by and let it happen.”
“We will not let hate win.”
