He was elected mayor in 1927 after the Kentucky Court of Appeals threw out the election of Arthur A. Will. He was re-elected to a full term in 1929. As mayor, Harrison arranged the finances for the construction of the Municipal Bridge (later renamed George Rogers Clark Memorial Bridge), securing private financing after a bond initiative failed. He also supported the purchase of the Von Zedtwitz estate, with the goal of establishing Bowman Field, the city's first airport. Numerous suburbs surrounding the airport were also carved out of the property.
Harrison ran for Governor of Kentucky in 1931 but was defeated by Ruby Laffoon. After his term as Mayor, Harrison served as chairman of the Louisville Industrial Foundation for 14 years. He died in 1948 and was buried in Cave Hill Cemetery.
The Battle of the Alamo (February 23 – March 6, 1836) was a crucial conflict of the Texas Revolution. In 1835, colonists from the United States joined with Tejanos (Mexicans born in Texas) in putting up armed resistance to the centralization of the Mexican government. President Antonio López de Santa Anna and the government in Mexico City believed the United States had instigated the insurrection with a goal of annexing Texas.
In an effort to tamp down on the unrest, martial law was declared and military governor General Martín Perfecto de Cos established headquarters in San Antonio de Béxar, stationing his troops at the Alamo. When the Texian volunteer soldiers gained control of the fortress at the Siege of Béxar, compelling Cos to surrender on December 9, many saw his expulsion to the other side of the Rio Grande as the end of Mexican forces in Texas. Most Texian soldiers in Béxar left to join a planned invasion of Matamoros, Mexico.
Garrison commander James C. Neill went home on family matters February 11, 1836, leaving James Bowie and William B. Travis as co-commanders over the predominantly volunteer force. When the Mexican Army of Operations under the command of Santa Anna arrived in Béxar with 1,500 troops on February 23, the remaining Alamo garrison numbered 150. Over the course of the next several days, new volunteers arrived inside the fortress while others were sent out as couriers, to forage for food, or to buy supplies.

William Henry Harrison: Hey, What Happened? (1841)
William Henry Harrison, or good old Tippecanoe, had the shortest term of any president so far. That's because he died just one month into his term. Being the first president to die in office, it brought up the issue of what to do when that happens, and it was decided that the vice president should take over. But there are a couple other tidbits to discuss regarding Tippecanoe, so let's take a look.

This didn’t matter to the thousands that had come out to the nation’s capital to see the president-elect William Henry Harrison be sworn into office as the 9th President of the United States. Despite his boring style and advanced age, Harrison’s military acumen while battling Indians in order to open western settlements earlier in the century had made “Old Tippecanoe” a populist candidate very much in line with the Andrew Jackson.

"George Harrison"
Written, produced, and mixed by William Hinson
Mastered by Joseph Keenan
Directed by Blaine Pugh
Edited by William Hinson
Coloring by Camila Noriega
Filmed at home during lockdown
I love it when you say things
so I can sit and watch you talk
I love it when you say George Harrison
is better in comparison to all four minus Paul
I love it when I hear your voice
Calling out into the daytime saying you are mine
I'm so ecstatic
That's not my ass that you're grabbing it's my heart
I love it
I love it
I love it when you say George Harrison
Is better in comparison to all three, minus Paul
I love the way you sneeze
I love the way you do everything
like when you do that voice from SNL
oh baby can't you tell that i’ll write a song about nothing
to tell you that you’re something else
And when you put your hand in mine
Everything just falls in line
I’m doing fine
With you here by my side
I love it
I love it
I love it when you say George Harrison
Is better in comparison to all three, minus Paul
I love the way you love George Harrison
I love the way you love George Harrison
