Willard Van Orman Quine interview with Bryan Magee (1977)
Willard Van Orman Quine of Harvard stands as one of the modern world’s most eminent philosophers. In this rare interview conducted by world-renowned author and professor Bryan Magee, Quine discusses his earlier view of himself as a mathematical logician, and his later interest in philosophy in a more general sense—specifically, regarding metaphysics and the philosophy of language.

Willard V. O. Quine - Two Dogmas of Empiricism
Quine's 1951 paper Two Dogmas of Empiricism is well-known for attacking the analytic-synthetic distinction and for being one of the most influential papers in analytic philosophy. In this video, I explain the argumentative (or rather: non-argumentative) structure of Quine's paper, consider on what grounds distinctions can be attacked, clarify the relation between Quine and Kant, explain the empiricist background against which Quine is working, and explain why the article could have so much impact.

Quine's Demonstration of the Circularity of Analyticity
This video looks at part of Quine's famous paper "Two Dogmas of Empiricism" particularly focusing on the critique of the circularity of analyticity.
This series looks at whether the necessary vs contingent, analytic vs synthetic, and a priori vs a posteriori distinctions actually can map onto each other and if they are even useful with the arguments of Immanuel Kant, W. V. O Quine, and Saul Kripke.

Carrie's parts were recorded by Carrie in Nottingham.
Kris and Ben's parts were recorded by Kris and Ben in Syracuse.

LYRICS:
He'll play upon
Your naturalistic intuitions
He'll lure you in
With the promise of positions that you love
Like realism about numbers and sets
And the view that philosophy's continuous with science.
And then you're caught in the web
No support from the a priori
All aboard Neurath's ship
It will all be fine
But you're tied to the mast
It's all a posteriori
Here on in; have a blast
With Willard Van Orman Quine.
He looks so good
Next to Carnap, Ayer and Chisholm
And there's nothing wrong
With confirmational holism;
It's quite nice as an account of how theories face the tribunal of
experience.
Mmm yeah.
But step away when he starts
Talking about the analytic.
Meaning's not that strange in being tricky to define.
And it comes in small bits;
Not all holism's terrific.
Keep your head; keep your wits
Round Willard Van Orman Quine.
