History Re-Summarized: Egypt
I for one was shocked to learn the Egyptians actually buried their kings in a giant Millennium Puzzle.
We've covered Egypt on this channel in previous videos, but this History Re-Summarized is the Definitive Edition, redone from the ground up to present the best possible account — starting at the beginning for a full chronology of Ancient Egypt, from the very first Pharaohs the Muslim Conquest.
(Observant Egyptologists and D&D players might note the Pyramids are actually D-*Fives*, but technically they're D-*Nines* since each face is actually two right triangles at a slight angle to each other and not a single flat isosceles triangle, so shhh, we can pretend it's a D4.)

Ancient Egypt was the preeminent civilization in the Mediterranean world for almost 30 centuries—from its unification around 3100 B.C. to its conquest by Alexander the Great in 332 B.C. From the great pyramids of the Old Kingdom through the military conquests of the New Kingdom, Egypt’s majesty has long entranced archaeologists and historians and created a vibrant field of study all its own: Egyptology. The main sources of information about ancient Egypt are the many monuments, objects and artifacts that have been recovered from archaeological sites, covered with hieroglyphs that have only recently been deciphered. The picture that emerges is ...

For millennia, the grand pyramids of Egypt have towered over the desert sands, captivating and mystifying all who lay their eyes upon them.
In fact, everything about the great ancient civilization that once seized the lands remained a mystery.
That is until July 19, 1799.
A French soldier discovers a large stone, about 35 miles east of Alexandria, during Napoleon Bonaparte's Egyptian expedition.
Unearthing a written language that had been “dead” for thousands of years.
The translations would prove to be the key to unlocking the secrets of an entire civilization.

When we think of ancient Egypt, the first things that cross our mind are mummies and pyramids, as well as the mysterious death of Tutankhamun. But that is merely a beginning. There are so many more fascinating things to discover and explore. Year after year, new excavations reveal amazing artifacts, such as clay objects that still display the fingerprints of ancient artisans. Other items help us discover the particular diseases an individual suffered from before he or she got mummified. So many small insights help us get to know ancient Egyptians—their daily lives, their drives, and motivations, emotions and weaknesses that are just like ours.

Ancient Egypt was the preeminent civilization in the Mediterranean world for almost 30 centuries—from its unification around 3100 B.C. to its conquest by
Alexander the Great in 332 B.C. The picture that emerges is of a culture with few equals in the beauty of its art, the accomplishment of its architecture or the richness of its religious traditions.

The Improbable Timeline of the Old Kingdom Mega-Pyramid Builders!
The Old Kingdom period of Ancient Egypt was a truly remarkable time in history, an era of mighty mega-projects that are still standing today, achievements unsurpassed in human history. But is this really when the giant pyramids were built?
It seems to have come out of nowhere - lifting the Dynastic Egyptian Civilization from the stone-age to the advanced technology required to build the Great Pyramid of Giza in a very short period of time. Only then to seemingly disappear again, never to be repeated, although the Egpytian civilization continued on for thousands of years.
The closer you look at this time period, the less sense it makes, and the more contradictions that appear in in the story of history. Join me as I explore the details of this lost era of history and look in detail at t...

DAY 28 "ANCIENT EGYPT" '80DAYS' Series with Paul G Roberts
It's now DAY 28 and Roberts experiences the awe of Ancient Egypt in Cairo. Cairo is far from a relaxing place. It's dirty, dusty, noisy, and hot. The calls to prayer go out over speakers all over the city like air raid sirens. There's nothing quite like it.
Were the pyramids built with the help of alien intelligence ? Are they the celestial gateways to alternate dimensions gazillions of light years away. Or are they just rocks stacked on top of each other off the back of the sweat and blood of poor working Egyptians and slaves ?
In this film, I'm seeing the pyramids of Giza up close, it's my second visit. And I’m still scratching my head on how ancient humans could have built something so remarkable by hand. There is something so uniquely fascinating about the Ancient Egyptians that has ...

Sources & Further Reading: "The Oxford History of Ancient Egypt" & "Ancient Egypt: A Very Short Introduction" by Ian Shaw, World History Encyclopedia entries on "Ancient Egypt", "Old Kingdom of Egypt", "First Intermediate Period of Egypt", "Middle Kingdom of Egypt", "Second Intermediate Period of Egypt", "New Kingdom of Egypt" https://www.worldhistory.org/egypt/, The Great Courses' lecture series "History of Ancient Egypt" by Bob Brier. Additionally, I have an undergraduate degree in classical studies (re: Persia, Ptolemies and Rome). Extra special thanks to our OSP Discord server moderator & Egyptology connoisseur Billy, for his assistance and guidance for this video!

Join me as I explore the details of this lost era of history and look in detail at the improbable timeline of the Old Kingdom mega-pyramid builders.

There is something so uniquely fascinating about the Ancient Egyptians that has captivated historians, archaeologists, and the public for the last three hundred years…and it’s
easy to see why.
From the strange form of writing called hieroglyphics to the mysterious
Sphinx and from the macabre mummies to the Great Pyramid, Ancient Egypt was an enigmatic
land that attracted Ancient Roman leaders and their militaries to the Egyptian seaports
and British Egyptologists to its dusty temples and tombs.
Much of our understanding of ancient cultures can be attributed to the Ancient Egyptians who left us many texts and treasures, monuments and myths that offer us tantalising clues about the exotic and wondrous culture of Ancient Egypt.
If you enjoyed this episode, please give it a thumbs up, leave a comment below with your favourite part, and don’t forget to subscribe for more adventures from PGR’s "80DAYS" series!
This solo one man odyssey, was crafted in the shadow of Jules Verne's immortal prose ‘Around the World in 80 Days’, but more than a nod to literary genius—it is an homage to the insatiable human thirst for discovery.
A thirst some poetically inclined termed ‘Wanderlust’.
In my grand narrative of no less than 80 episodes, the world unfolds as a tapestry of cultures and wonders, we are reminded that the true wealth of life is not in the jingle of coins or the accolades of society. It is in the bonds we forge, the love that we kindle amidst the whirlwind of our pursuits.

The Spotted Flycatcher
The Spotted Flycatcher (Muscicapa striata) is a small passerine bird that belongs to the flycatcher family. These birds are known for their elegant appearance and exceptional hunting skills. They have a distinct plumage, featuring pale underparts, a brownish-gray upper body, and conspicuous dark spots on their crown and back.
As its name suggests, the Spotted Flycatcher is an adept flycatcher. It uses its keen eyesight to spot flying insects and then launches into quick flights to capture them mid-air. After catching its prey, it returns to its perch to consume it.

Nesting Spotted Flycatchers | Muscicapa striata | British Birding
In this video I follow nesting Spotted Flycatchers feeding their chicks over a period of eight days watching them grow and fledge. Watch the flycatcher chicks growing up day by day at a remarkable rate and make the parent birds work hard in catching insects to feed them. Spotted Flycatcher, Muscicapa striata, is a small songbird found in Europe and parts of Asia but becoming an increasingly scarce sight in British birding, making watching them nesting a special experience. While Spotted Flycatcher is not a colourful bird it is interesting for its migratory habits and tendency to often nest close to humans.
