The Welsh Basin was a northeast-southwest aligned back-arc depositional basin during the Cambrian, Ordovician and Silurian periods during which a considerable thickness of marine sediments was laid down in the area. To the southeast lay the Midland Platform (a part of the micro-continent of Avalonia) and to the northwest, within the Iapetus Ocean, through what is now Ireland and the Lake District, was an island arc; a northeast-southwest aligned Irish Sea landmass which was associated with volcanic activity. Examination of the sediments and associated fossils allows the deeper centre of the basin to be distinguished from shallower 'platform' areas along its southeastern margins. From the middle Silurian onwards, collision of Avalonia with the more northerly continent of Laurentia occurred giving rise to the Caledonian Orogeny. The inversion of the basin occurred at that time i.e. its uplift and deformation.
The southeastern limit of the Welsh Basin can be defined as the Welsh Borderland Fault Zone comprising the Pontesford-Linley Fault and Church Stretton Fault which stretch from Pembrokeshire to Shropshire and, in the northwest, the Menai Strait Fault Zone. Its extent to the southwest and northeast is uncertain as these areas are cloaked by more recent rocks.
The Welsh is a breed of domestic pig native to Wales. It is a large white breed known for its hardiness in outdoor (extensive) farming and its long, pear-shaped body. The breed was first mentioned in the 1870s, and is the third most common sire in the U.K. after the Large White and British Landrace. The Welsh pig is not exported to many countries around the world despite the fact that they can produce substantially good bacon.
History
The Welsh Pig comes from various Welsh towns. In Mid Wales, Montgomery and Cardigan and also in Carmarthen and Pembroke. The earliest reference to the Welsh was in the 1870s and it originated from the Wild Boar like its similar breeds. After the Second World War, the Welsh pig became a great source for prosperity and the numbers grew by quite a reasonable amount, ultimately ending in 1,363 boars in the UK by 1954 and 3,736 sows bred in 1953. This breed of pig became incredibly popular in the mid-20th century and became a crucial breed for the pig industry.
A dock (from Dutchdok) is either the area of water between or next to a human-made structure or group of structures involved in the handling of boats or ships, usually on or close to a shore, or the structures themselves. The exact meaning varies among different variants of the English language. "Dock" may also refer to a dockyard or shipyard where the loading, unloading, building, or repairing of ships occurs.
History
The earliest known docks were those discovered in Wadi al-Jarf, an ancient Egyptianharbor dating from 2500 BCE located on the Red Sea coast. Archaeologists also discovered anchors and storage jars near the site. A dock from Lothal in India dates from 2400 BCE and was located away from the main current to avoid deposition of silt. Modern oceanographers have observed that the Harappans must have possessed great knowledge relating to tides in order to build such a dock on the ever-shifting course of the Sabarmati, as well as exemplary hydrography and maritime engineering. This was the earliest known dock found in the world, equipped to berth and service ships. It is speculated that Lothal engineers studied tidal movements, and their effects on brick-built structures, since the walls are of kiln-burnt bricks. This knowledge also enabled them to select Lothal's location in the first place, as the Gulf of Khambhat has the highest tidal amplitude and ships can be sluiced through flow tides in the river estuary. The engineers built a trapezoidal structure, with north-south arms of average 21.8metres (71.5ft), and east-west arms of 37metres (121ft).
The park is home to Cannon Mountain, a state-owned ski resort started in the 1930s. The mountain is named for a rock formation in the shape of a cannon found on the summit, but the "Old Man of the Mountain" formation was by far the more famous; it collapsed in May 2003. Cannon is also famous for being one of the most challenging hills in New England. It boasts an aerial tram, which runs year-round, ferrying sightseers to the summit in the summer time and skiers in the winter. At the base of the tramway is the New England Ski Museum, with exhibits on the history of alpine skiing in New England and America.
Moment couple's narrowboat sinks in 25 seconds at Fobney lock
The unfortunate incident happened in the Kennet and Avon Canal in Whitley, Berkshire. A couple were on the boat as it approached the lock, before the male got off to open the passageway. It was at this point that water began to pour into the boat and it started to sink. A woman had to be helped off the boat by a couple who were fishing at the canal. The boat sank so quickly the couple were unable to rescue any of their possessions in time.

Swansea Walk: City Centre & Tawe Basin【4K】
Located within the Gower Peninsula in South Wales is the city of Swansea (or Abertawe in Welsh).
The name Swansea is believed to come from King Sweyn Forkbeard of Denmark who founded the original Viking trading post in the area. The Normans took control of the settlement in the around the 12th century, building the castle we see in ruins in the video just after the 4 minute mark.
During the Industrial Revolution Swansea was the world's leading copper-smelting area, earning it the nickname, 'Copperopolis'. Due to its strategic importance as a port and trade city, Swansea was targeted by German bombers in 1941 in what became known as the Three Nights Blitz. As a consequence, much of the architecture in the city is post-war.
