Major GeneralAkbar Khan, DSO (1912 - 1993) also known as Mohammed Akbar Khan, was a Pakistan Army officer who is most known as the Brigadier-in-Charge in Kashmir on the Pakistan side in Indo-Pakistani War of 1947. He also served as a commander of the Pakistan Army's division to stop the first Baloch insurgency of 1948. Khan had also served as appointed Chief of National Security under prime ministerZulfikar Ali Bhutto. Under his guidance, the Army had quelled the Balochi Insurgency during the early and mid-1970s. In spite of his engaging military career, Khan is mostly known in Pakistan as the main conspirator of the first but failed coup attempt of 1951, which came to be known as the Rawalpindi Conspiracy.

Wazīr Akbar Khān (1816–1845; Persian:وزير اکبر خان), born as Mohammad Akbar Khān (محمد اکبر خان) and also known as Amīr Akbar Khān (امير اکبر خان), was an Afghanprince, general, and finally emir for about three years until his death. His fame began with the 1837 Battle of Jamrud, while attempting to regain Afghanistan's second capital Peshawar from the Sikh army of BritishPunjab.
Wazir Akbar Khan was militarily active in the First Anglo-Afghan War, which lasted from 1839 to 1842. He is prominent for his leadership of the national party in Kabul from 1841 to 1842, and his massacre of Elphinstone's army at the Gandamak pass before the only survivor, the assistant surgeon William Brydon, reached the besieged garrison at Jalalabad on 13 January 1842. Wazir Akbar Khan became the emir of Afghanistan in May 1842, and ruled until his death in 1845.
Early life
Akbar was born as Mohammad Akbar Khan in 1816 to Emir Dost Mohammad Barakzai of Afghanistan and Mermən Khadija Popalzai. Dost Mohammad Barakzai had 2 wives, 8 sons (including Wazir Akbar Khan) and 2 daughters.
Wazir Akbar Khan (وزیر اکبر خان) is a neighbourhood in northern Kabul, Afghanistan, named after the 19th century Afghan Emir Wazir Akbar Khan. It is one of the wealthiest parts in Kabul. Many foreign embassies are located there, including the American and Canadian. The Kabul International Airport is also located in the Wazir Akbar Khan neighborhood.
It is a common place for foreign workers to live. The streets are laid out on a grid with Western, two-story houses that date back to the 1960s and 70s. Like much of Kabul, the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) provide security for the area. Most of Afghanistan's national government institutions are located in the area, including the Presidential Palace, the headquarters of the International Security Assistance Force and the German-Afghan Amani High School. A Marriott Hotel is being constructed across from the U.S. Embassy.
Akbar started his career as an assistant director to some filmmakers and after some years of assisting made his debut in Anjaan Rahain (1974) which starred his brother Feroz in the main lead. He was also assistant director to his brother Feroz in Apradh (1972). After acting in a couple of films, Akbar turned producer-director with Haadsa (1983) starring himself in the lead. He also starred in his brother Sanjay Khan's directorial venture Kala Dhanda Gorey Log (1986). After acting in Aakarshan (1988), Akbar turned his attention to TV industry and directed the first 20 episodes of his brother Sanjay Khan's epic TV Serial, The Sword of Tipu Sultan. The serial is regarded as a cult classic in the Indian TV industry.
Khan made his first-class debut for Karachi University against Karachi Blues during the 1967-68 season, contributing 10 runs towards a drawn match in which Mushtaq Mohammad scored his first-class best 303 not out.
His second and final first-class match came two seasons later, for Kalat, in the 1969-70 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. From the lower order, he scored a duck in the first innings and a single run in the second.
Mohammad Akbar Khan (18131845) was an Afghan Prince, a general and a tribal leader. He was active in the First Anglo-Afghan War, which lasted from 1839 to 1842. He is prominent for his leadership of the national party in Kabul from 1841 to 1842, and his pursuit of the retreating British army from Kabul to Gandamak near Jalalabad in 1842. He is also known for killing legendary Sikh leader Hari Singh Nalwa in the 1837 Battle of Jamrud whilst trying to get back the city of Peshawar for the Afghans from the invading Sikh army.
