Warminster School, originally called Lord Weymouth's Grammar School, is a co-educationalindependent day and boarding school at Warminster, Wiltshire, for students aged three to eighteen. It now comprises the Preparatory School for pupils aged three to eleven, and the Senior School for students aged eleven to eighteen
The school's buildings lie in grounds which face open country on the edge of the Warminster town centre. The school has long-established links with the town and enjoys strong support. The Preparatory School is on a neighbouring site.
Founding and amalgamations
In 1707, Thomas Thynne, 1st Viscount Weymouth, under the influence of Bishop Thomas Ken (1637–1711), founded a grammar school for boys in the market town of Warminster, near to his family seat of Longleat, to teach the boys of Warminster, Longbridge Deverill, and Monkton Deverill Latin, Mathematics, and other subjects of the usual syllabus of the day. This became known as Lord Weymouth's Grammar School - referred to locally as the "Latin School" - and by the 20th century was called The Lord Weymouth School.
Warminster (/ˈwɔːrmɪnstər/) is a town and civil parish in western Wiltshire, England, by-passed by the A36 (between Salisbury and Bath) and the partly concurrent A350 between Westbury and Blandford Forum. It has a population of about 17,000. The River Were runs through the town and can be seen running through the middle of the town park. The Minster Church of St Denys sits on the River Were. The name Warminster first occurs in the early 10th century.
There are indications that a Middle Iron Age settlement may also have been situated just west of the town.
The town's prosperity following the growth of the wool trade in the Late Middle Ages caused the erection of many magnificent structures, including the Minster Church of Saint Denys, in a yew grove sacred from pre-Christian times, and including an organ originally destined for the then under-construction Salisbury Cathedral.
Warminster is a SEPTA train station located in Warminster, Pennsylvania, United States. It serves as the north end of the Warminster Line, and the station is occasionally served by the Fall Foliage trains of the New Hope & Ivyland Railroad, which offers diesel powered excursions between Warminster and New Hope. In FY 2013, Warminster station had a weekday average of 1295 boardings and 1052 alightings. The station was a replacement for the former Bonair Reading Railroad Station. Original electrification from Hatboro was extended to Warminster in 1974.

The town was called Warminster Township as early as 1685, before its borders were formally established in 1711. It was originally part of Southampton Township, which was founded in 1682 by William Penn.Warminster was named after a small town in the county of Wiltshire, at the western extremity of Salisbury Plain, England. Warminster, Pennsylvania was mostly settled by English and Scotch-Irish after William Penn received a grant of land in the area from King Charles, II.
Warminster began as a small farming community and remained that way throughout most of its history.
