When is it Time for a Cane or a Walker? Assistive Devices Explained.
Many seniors fear losing their independence as they age, particularly when it comes to moving without fear of falls or being able to complete everyday tasks like getting dressed. A number of tools are available to help you maintain independence and continue the activities you enjoy, include canes, walkers, rollators, grab bars, remote controls for those with low vision, adaptive gardening tools, door handles, and more.
In this video, a physical therapist and occupational therapist from Hebrew SeniorLife, a Harvard Medical School affiliated senior services organization based in Boston, outline tools that are available to keep seniors safely enjoying their independence.
