Battle of the Wabash or the US Army's greatest defeat
On November 4, 1791, General Arthur St. Clair led approximately 1,000 men into battle against the Western Confederacy of Native Americans. Only 24 would return uninjured from the conflict. This historical event has been labeled the United States Army's greatest defeat. The History Guy remembers the Battle of Wabash, also called St. Clair's defeat, a central event of the Indian Wars.
The episode discusses events and shows some artwork depicting a period of war, which some viewers may find disturbing. All events are described for educational purposes and are presented in historical context.

Yamaha Wabash RT Review Short
While attending the (e)revolution electric bike show in Denver Colorado, I got to connect with Yamaha to learn more about their Wabash RT electric bike. This is a gravel ebike with flared drop bars that works well as a commuter, trekking and touring platform, gravel grinder, or cross country mountain bike. It has taller wheels with lightly studded 700x45c tires, a dropper seat post with suspension travel, and a rigid aluminum alloy fork. Sturdy 12mm thru-axles are used front and rear to improve stiffness and strength for off-road use. Powerful Shimano hydraulic disc brakes. There are two spots to mount bottle cages and other accessories, and mounting points for fenders and a rear rack, but we also saw a goodie bag on the top tube, and camping gear below the handlebar. It comes in one color...

The Wabash RT is a road/gravel e-bike from Yamaha. As pioneers in the industry, the company made their first e-bike in 1993. We expected a lot from the bike – find out what we thought in this Yamaha Wabash RT review!
The bike’s 250W mid-drive motor is made by Yamaha. With 500W of peak output and 70 Nm of torque, it packs some punch but never overpowers the ride. With the brand’s quad-sensor system, the motor engagement feels natural and smooth.

In the years following independence, the newly-formed United States of America look westward for their expansion, hoping to conquer territory and sell off the land to eager European settlers.
Among their targets is the vast, resource-rich 'Northwest Territory', stretching from the Appalachian Mountains to the Mississippi River. But this is not vacant land - thousands of native people, across numerous tribes, call these valleys and forests their home, and they will fight to protect it. As violence along the frontier rises and negotiations fail, the federal government decides to take the territory by force... but they have fatally underestimated their enemy.
This is the full story of the Battle of the Wabash... America's first military defeat.

It has taller wheels with lightly studded 700x45c tires, a dropper seat post with suspension travel, and a rigid aluminum alloy fork. There are two spots to mount bottle cages and other accessories, and mounting points for fenders and a rear rack, but we also saw a goodie bag on the top tube, and camping gear below the handlebar. It comes in one color scheme, three frame sizes, has an integrated headlight, bell, and comes with a three year battery warranty.

Yamaha makes the 36V, 500 Wh battery as well, so the brand has prioritized its efficiency with the motor. We traveled a huge number of miles in our Range test – check out our review to learn more!
We loved the motor and battery but also its wide flared drop bars. These helped the bike to feel stable and allowed for precise control of its steering. On top of that, they allow the handlebars to accommodate luggage when bikepacking.
For more information - and to see how the bike performed in our testing - check out our Yamaha Wabash RT review!
