Tennis Tour Calendar Explained
Tennis Tour Calendar Explained.
The calendar focuses on the four Grand Slams – the Australian Open, Roland Garros, Wimbledon, and the US Open. But there’s more to life than the majors – in fact, tennis has one of the longest seasons in professional sport, with top players having just four weeks off a year.
The men’s (ATP) and women’s (WTA) tours usually take in 31 countries worldwide during a tightly packed schedule, with several mandatory events.
Here's how the tennis' tour calendar is made up?

Tennis Rankings Explained
Tennis Rankings Explained
Among his many trophies, records and achievements, Roger Federer boasted both the most consecutive & total weeks as the men’s World Number 1. While Novak Djokovic successfully chased down the latter in March 2021, Federer’s record of four-and-a-half consecutive years as the best player in the world does not look in danger of falling any time soon. But how do you get there? How exactly are the tennis rankings calculated?

The ATP & WTA Race Explained
The ATP & WTA 'Race' Explained.
On both the ATP & WTA Tour, an individual's world ranking is based over a rolling 52-week period, with a points tally made up of a player’s best 18 results on the ATP Tour and 16 results on the WTA Tour. Points from the corresponding week of the previous year drop off as new results are earned.
This 'best of' method was first introduced by the ATP in August 1973, with the WTA following suit in November 1975, and has continued to this day as the official ranking system in professional tennis.
But there is another way of judging player performance, and it comes in the form of the ATP and WTA 'Race' rankings.
These represent an easy-to-understand, simple-to-follow annual race from season start – when everyone is on zero – to the season’s end. It is tennis’s...

Female Tennis Players with the Most WTA 1000 Titles
Who has won the most WTA 1000 (WTA Masters/WTA Premier/WTA Tier I) titles in the history of women's tennis?
The WTA 1000 Series is the second most important tournaments on the WTA calendar after the Grand Slam. There are currently 9 tournaments of this rank each year. WTA 1000 tournaments are held in 9 cities: Doha/Dubai, Indian Wells, Miami, Madrid, Rome, Canada, Cincinnati, and in 2023 also in Guadalajara and Beijing. From 1990 to 2008, the series was called WTA Tier I, and since 2009 it has been renamed WTA Premier or the more popular WTA 1000. Only 70 tennis players have won at least one WTA 1000 title. Who has won the most of them? Steffi Graf, Monica Seles, Martina Hingis, Maria Sharapova or Serena Williams?

Tennis Rankings Explained
Among his many trophies, records and achievements, Roger Federer boasted both the most consecutive & total weeks as the men’s World Number 1. While Novak Djokovic successfully chased down the latter in March 2021, Federer’s record of four-and-a-half consecutive years as the best player in the world does not look in danger of falling any time soon. But how do you get there? How exactly are the tennis rankings calculated?

It is tennis’s equivalent of a seasonal league table. At the end of it all, the top eight players qualify for the end-of-season ATP and WTA Tour Finals.

The WTA 1000 Series is the second most important tournaments on the WTA calendar after the Grand Slam. There are currently 9 tournaments of this rank each year.
