Visual poetry is poetry or art in which the visual arrangement of text, images and symbols is important in conveying the intended effect of the work. Confusingly, it is sometimes referred to as concrete poetry, a term that predates visual poetry.
Some traditions of visual poetry were heavily influenced by Fluxus, which is usually described as being Intermedia. Intermedia work tends to blur the distinctions between different media, and visual poetry blurs the distinction between art and text. Another description of visual poetry would be multimodal visual communication. Whereas concrete poetry is still recognizable as poetry, being composed of purely typographic elements, certain types of visual poetry are much less text-dependent. The majority of visual poems incorporate text, but the text may have primarily a visual function. 'Vispo' is a common abbreviation for visual poetry.

Yesterday(s) | A Visual Poem
I thought of all the yesterdays
The good ones and the bad,
I thought of all the love we shared,
and all the fun we had
I had so much to live for,
So much left yet to do,
It seemed almost impossible,
That I was leaving you.
I wish so much you wouldn't cry
The way you did today,
While thinking of the many things,
We didn't get to say.
If I could re-live yesterday
Just even for a while,
I'd say good-bye and kiss you
And maybe see you smile.
I promise no tomorrow,
But today will always last,
And since each day's the same
There's no longing for the past.
So when tomorrow starts without me,
Don't think we're far apart,
For every time you think of me,
I'm right here, in your heart.

in silence - a visual poetry
In silence,
In between the pauses of a conversation
You come alive one more time
Your words softer than rain
They play like a tune you cant remember
But Impossible to forget
Even after the tune is found
Questions still remain
Because the answers never came
Or may be because they were never asked.
The evening draws in
The sun kisses the earth goodbye
Reflection of a dessert and a lake come together
I wake up to the dusk
The longing subsides
Hurts are cured
Wounds buried
And our walk begins.
You stop at the edge.
I take a fall
Only to fly inside the water
I am you
Disappearing into the dawn
and to be back to the silence
in between the pauses of a conversation
where you come alive one more time.

what do you remember the most ? | visual poem
spontaneous outtakes from a swim at a nearby river.
-
There is a river that runs deep through a forest only i know
The water flows miraculously
Like there is no end nor a beginning
You asked what i remember the most
All the misfortunes.
I remember them the most.
Because they now come to me as the sun and the rain
the sun is love
And the truth is the rain
You've always carried them both
I wish to cup my hand over what is fleeting
And keep it alive
or simply feel it until I can't feel anything.
What do you wish for ?
What do you remember the most?
This river holds no answers
But a mirror only.
And it cries in ripples
It sings in ripples
Speaks in ripples
Wherever i go,
I'm bound by its currents.
for I am one day to become one with it
When the horizon paints my eyes
I wonder, do...

Visual poetry is poetry or art in which the visual arrangement of text, images and symbols is important in conveying the intended effect of the work. Confusingly, it is sometimes referred to as concrete poetry, a term that predates visual poetry.
