VALLADOLID, YUCATAN MEXICO | Best Things To Do In Valladolid
Find the best things to do in Valladolid Mexico here. Valladolid is nestled in the eastern part of the Yucutan in Mexico. There are about 45,000 residents here, including the surrounding small communities. It’s also only 40 kilometers from Chichen Itza, one of the seven world wonders. Here are the best things to do in Valladolid from our perspective:
6: Visiting Cenote Suytun. This cenote has become a social media sensation in recent years because of its unique man-made platform that extends to the middle of the water. If it’s a sunny day, the light will shine through the cenote roof directly onto the platform. You can also visit Cenote Kaapeh right next to it. It’s included in the price of admission and definitely worth the visit as it has jungle vines and trees growing out of it.

DON'T MISS THIS CHARMING TOWN IN THE YUCATAN! | Valladolid, Mexico
Come here before the tourist masses find out how amazing it is! lol Valladolid is definitely an underrated gem in the Yucatan peninsula and offers a variety of attractions in a much more peaceful than Cancun or Tulum. Valladolid is a small city of about 50,000 people with great local hotels, restaurants and an abundance of spectacular cenotes within biking distance. It's also a 40 minute drive from Chichen Itza so you can get a local bus or taxi to take you right when it opens before the droves of tourists from the big cities come in. I had an amazing time here and hope this video will be helpful to you if you're planning on visiting. xx

🇬🇧 Valladolid is a lively provincial Spanish city and a convenient gateway to northern Spain. An attractive place with a very Spanish character, the city's appeal is in its sprinkling of striking monuments, the fine Plaza Mayor and some excellent museums.
Valladolid has witnessed a multitude of events throughout its history, among which facts stand out such as the fact that Valladolid became the capital of the Spanish empire for a short time, it was also here where Cervantes finished writing Don Quixote or where Christopher Columbus died.
Enjoy this cycling tour!

5: The 5th best activity we did in Valladolid was Rio Lagartos. It took about an hour and a half to drive through the Yucatan jungle to the small fishing town and then we hopped on a boat tour once we got there. On the tour, we saw alligators, flamingos, pelicans, and even a small pink lake.
4. Exploring the city of Valladolid. This city blew our minds with how colorful it was! We took a free walking tour and learned about the Spanish and Mayan history of the city. It was also a great experience to visit the Convento de San Bernadino de Siena in the evening. The town puts on a light show every night, telling the story of the city and how it came to be.
3: Cenote Xkeken. This unique cave cenote had giant stalactites cascading from the roof as well as long vines that extended all the way into the water. It was a magical experience to swim amongst the vines and look up to the sunlight above. We also purchased a discounted ticket to Cenote Samula, which was within a 5 minute walk. It was worth it to see the one of the brightest blue cenotes we’ve seen so far in the Yucatan.
2. Visiting Chichen Itza. This world wonder was immaculately kept, especially the main pyramid of El Castillo. Standing at 98 feet tall, it stands alone in the center of the ruins and is extremely beautiful. The crowds were large due to its world wonder status, but we still had a great tour experience thanks to our knowledgeable guide who looped us into some fascinating Mayan history.
1. The best activity to do in Valladolid is visiting the ancient ruins of Ek Balam. We ranked this number one because of how much it surprised us. It felt much larger than Chichen Itza, had amazing rock art, and we were allowed to climb up the stairs on both of the major pyramids. Being able to touch and feel the structures brought us closer to understanding the true beauty and intricacy of the Mayan culture.

# 1. Catille and Leon: Vineyard tour with wine tasting
No trip to Valladolid would be complete without sampling some of the local cuisine. The city is known for its delicious food, with a particular emphasis on meat and wine. Our absolute number 1 tip is to enjoy a Vineyard Tour with Wine Tasting. Begin your tour with an exploration of the vineyard's 15 plots. See the grapes growing in the sun and learn about the vineyard's organic farming processes. Following the same path as the grapes, continue to the fermentation and barrel-aging process area. Learn about Spanish viticulture, wander through Finca Villacreces' vineyard near Valladolid, see the fermentation process, and enjoy a tasting of local wines. We have selected the best wine tour for you in our opinion, you can book tickets for this via the link in the description. We recommend booking this trip in advance, as the tour is very popular.

I had an amazing time here and hope this video will be helpful to you if you're planning on visiting. xx

*I use both of these companies depending on the destination and requirements of entry. If you are going to be abroad for a long time and/or don't need as much coverage, I would recommend SafetyWing. BUT you cannot purchase SafetyWing WHILE in Canada or USA. You can only purchase once already abroad. Hey Mondo is more expensive but offers a higher level of coverage including plans that have trip cancellation/interruption insurance. Hey Mondo would be the better insurance to use if you need travel medical insurance when applying for a visa. Both companies cover covid. I am an affiliate for both companies, but I pay for my own policies.*

Spain news update - Dark clouds on the horizon...for some
Spain news update bad news for ruling party the Partido Poplular in Castilla y León as it looks as though they won't be able to govern alone after next Sunday's elections; the body of a missing woman has been found in Valladolid; Spain's health experts are meeting to decide when to end the outdoor mask mandate; 56% of Spain's municipalities no longer have a bank branch; and Spain's tourism industry a long way off a full recovery.

Valladolid, the capital of the Spanish Autonomous Community of Castilla y León, is geographically located in the middle of the northern plateau. At a distance of 192 km from Madrid, it stretches over a surface area of 8202 km2. It is an important industrial and business centre with an estimated population of half a million inhabitants, the majority of whom live in the urban area. Valladolid is connected to the rest of Spain by means of good communication networks. Its airport (Villanubla) offers daily flights to Barcelona, Valencia, Malaga, Alicante, Paris, London, Brussels, Düsseldorf and Milano. The city, which is home to extraordinary monumental wealth, is one of the most significant of Spain's capitals from a historical perspective. It has one of the oldest universities in the country and currently continues to expand thus giving Valladolid a very unique university atmosphere.
Valladolid boasts an excellent national and international communication network: by air, thanks to Valladolid's airport in Villanubla, and by land, by virtue of the network of roads and motorways to and from the city which suffer very high traffic levels. This was the reason for constructing various bypass roads around the city (Rondas Este and Oeste) which help to keep the traffic flow steady. Another important link is the railway which transports both passengers and goods. Moreover, the launch of the high speed train will have positive consequences on railway services. With regard to maritime transport, it is a dry port and gives remote service.
