Lennon–McCartney (also written Lennon/McCartney and occasionally known as McCartney–Lennon) was the rock music songwriting partnership between English musicians John Lennon (9 October 1940–8 December 1980) and Paul McCartney (born 18 June 1942) of the Beatles. It is one of the best known and most successful musical collaborations in history. Between 1962 and 1969, the partnership published approximately 180 jointly credited songs, of which the vast majority were recorded by the Beatles, forming the bulk of their catalogue.
Unlike many songwriting partnerships that comprise separate lyricist and composer, both Lennon and McCartney wrote words and music. Sometimes, especially early on, they would collaborate extensively when writing songs, working "nose to nose and eyeball to eyeball". Later, it became more common for one of the two credited authors to write all or most of a song with limited input from the other.
"He provided a lightness, an optimism, while I would always go for the sadness, the discords, the bluesy notes," John Lennon explained in his 1980 Playboy interviews.
Is this the most important film about the Beatles ever made?
To understand the Beatles and why they touched so many lives, it is vital to examine the relationship at the core of this phenomenon: Lennon/McCartney.
This 5-part series is the most intimate, comprehensive biography ever made on John and Paul. Told almost entirely through their own words and music, with information culled from a variety of direct sources and compiled in a way that has never been done before, it directly challenges many of the dominant narratives in Beatles mythology.

Before Peter Jackson's Get Back, I edited a documentary from the original Michael Lindsay-Hogg footage, using the same techniques (but w/out Jackson's technology!).
Made entirely from bootleg a/v, you can see the 2018 prototype here:

Now, thanks to Peter Jackson’s restoration of the Get Back films, I’ve been able to update my own documentary. I’ve also extended it (with over 45 minutes of brand new content) to cover the final year of the Beatles: from April 1969-April 1970.

All those stars you have looked in the eyes Are long dead reminders of the past you are leaving behind So don't be shocked if you see me collapse I'm just not that stable I think if you're able You'd best get the hell out of here Cause I could even go supernova now So fierce and bright But I might go too far Become a black hole And pull the light right out of you Pulling the light out of you Is what I would do with my gravity and my mass Warping your time and your space You'd better not look back his way with that beautiful Face and those eyes and those sweet and soft Xs and Os I will pull the light right out of those
