The buildings comprising Underground Atlanta were constructed during the city's post-Civil WarReconstruction Era boom, between 1866 and 1871, when the city's population doubled from 11,000 to 22,000 residents. In 1869, the Georgia Railroad freight depot was constructed to replace the one destroyed by Sherman's troops in 1864. The depot, which stands at the entrance of Underground Atlanta, remains the oldest building in downtown Atlanta. However, the depot was originally three stories tall but the second and third story were destroyed by fire. Besides the train station, the bustling district included hotels, banks, law offices, and saloons. An electric streetcar was installed in 1889 to points South, and by 1900 the depot was serving 100 trains per day with direct service between Atlanta and New York City; Cincinnati, Ohio; Chattanooga, Tennessee; Knoxville, Augusta, Georgia; Macon, Georgia; and Columbus, Georgia. By 1910, several iron bridges had been built to cross the railroad tracks at Union Street. At the suggestion of Atlanta architect Haralson Bleckley, the bridges were rebuilt in concrete and connected by a linear mall between them. Eventually, Bleckley envisioned public plazas between the bridges, but only one, Plaza Park (later Peachtree Fountains Plaza), was ever built.
Underground Atlanta is a hip hop compilation album performed by various artists. The double disc album was released on August 31, 2009, by Grind Time Official and SMC Recordings. The song "I'mma Fool wit It", by Killer Mike featuring Big Kuntry King, was released as a single.

Atlanta was an American country music group formed in 1982 in Nashville, Tennessee, USA. Between 1983 and 1988, Atlanta recorded two albums for MCA Records and charted nine hit singles on the Billboard country charts. Its chart history included two Top Ten country hits in "Atlanta Burned Again Last Night" and "Sweet Country Music." The latter was also the band's highest charting single, peaking at number 5.

Atlanta was formed in 1982 by Brad Griffis (Bass guitar), Bill Davidson (vocals, rhythm guitar), Tony Ingram (vocals, fiddle), Alan David (lead guitar), Allen Collay (keyboards), Bill Packard (keyboards), Jeff Baker (harmonica), Dick Stevens (vocals)) and John Holder (drums). Prior to the foundation, Ingram had recorded on Epic Records in the band Spurzz, and Stevens, Davidson, Griffis and David had previously toured as a re-establishment of The Vogues. The group was founded through the assistance of record producer Larry McBride, who had also launched the career of Alabama. With nine members, Atlanta was the largest country music band at the time.

Underground Atlanta has gone through many trials and tribulations in order to stand how it is today. As the invention of the streetcar began to boom in Atlanta, more traffic started appearing and it was clear that there was not enough room for everyone to get through. Because of this, viaducts were created that lifted the streets to let the railroads pass, causing the shops (that were now underground) to move up so that they could be seen once again. For a long time, Underground Atlanta was closed, but it reopened as a source of shopping and entertainment, and I hope this video helps to see how much fun Underground Atlanta can be!
