Under the Table and Dreaming is the debut studio album from the Dave Matthews Band, released on September 27, 1994.
The album's first single was "What Would You Say," featuring John Popper of Blues Traveler on harmonica. Two other singles from the album followed, "Ants Marching" and "Satellite".
The album's title comes from a line in the song "Ants Marching": "He remembers being small / playing under the table and dreaming."
The album was dedicated "In memory of Anne" for Matthews' older sister Anne, who was killed by her husband in 1994 in a murder-suicide. Included in the jewel case packet is a picture of Dave Matthews and one of Anne's children.
By March 16, 2000, the album had sold six million copies, and was certified 6× platinum by the RIAA.
Recording
The acoustic guitar tracks on the album were played by Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds. During the recording sessions, Matthews and Reynolds would sit face-to-face with a piece of glass between them, playing the same guitar part. This was done twice for each song, resulting in four acoustic guitar tracks (two from Matthews, two from Reynolds) all playing the same part on each song. ProducerSteve Lillywhite frequently turned down the volume on Matthews' parts and turned up the volume on Reynolds' parts, resulting in Reynolds' guitar playing being more prominent on the final album. Reynolds then overdubbed additional acoustic and electric guitar parts.
Unreported employment, colloquially called working under the table, nixers being paid cash-in-hand or moonlighting (in U.K. English), is employment not reported to the state. This is often done by the employer or the employee for tax evasion or circumvention of other laws. Unreported employment is a major factor of the underground economy.
Workers and employers who engage in this practice generally make and receive payments in cash, and the employer often does not check the employee's background or credentials, as is sometimes required by law or otherwise expected by the industry's client base, such as a license or professional certification. While the hiring of the employee may or may not be legal in itself, it is often done when the employer or the employee is intentionally failing to obey one or more laws.
In developed nations unreported employment circumvents withholding tax and is part of the informal sector. This is hidden from the state for tax, social security or labour law purposes but is legal in all other aspects.
Goddess is the debut studio album by American singer and songwriter Banks, released on September 5, 2014 by Harvest Records. It includes all four tracks from her second extended play (EP) London (2013), while the deluxe edition includes two tracks from her debut extended play Fall Over (2013). The album spawned four singles: "Warm Water", "Brain", "Drowning", and "Beggin for Thread".
Background
In February 2014, Banks mentioned that her then-untitled debut studio album was nearing completion; she commented that "I feel like I still have a few more things to let out so that I'll feel really comfortable and happy with my first album being released." In April, Banks announced that the album would be titled Goddess, and confirmed that it would be released on September 9, 2014 in the United States.
Singles
"Warm Water" was released as the lead single from Goddess on May 27, 2013. "Brain" was released as the second single from the album on January 29, 2014. The album's third single, "Drowning", was released on June 9, 2014, peaking at number 48 on the US Rock Digital Songs chart. On July 22, 2014, "Beggin for Thread" was released as the fourth single from the album. The song reached number 11 on the US Alternative Songs chart, reached number 64 in Germany, and number 80 in Australia.
Under the Table and Dreaming is the debut studio album from the Dave Matthews Band, released on September 27, 1994.
"Ants Marching" is considered to be the definitive and most recognizable Dave Matthews Band song by many of their devoted fans. The song is centered on the idea that people get caught up in the monotony of their everyday lives and forget to focus on what is truly important. The metaphor used is that people are like marching ants in the line, "All the little ants are marching, red and black antennae waving, they all do it the same, they all do it the same way."

Lyrics:
He wakes up in the morning
Does his teeth bite to eat and he's rolling
Never changes a thing
The week ends the week begins
She thinks, we look at each other
Wondering what the other is thinking
But we never say a thing
These crimes between us grow deeper
Take these chances
Place them in a box until a quiter time
Lights down, you up and die
Goes to visit his mommy
She feeds him well his concerns
He forgets them
And remembers being small
Playing under the table and dreaming
Take these chances
Place them in a box until a quieter time
Lights down, you up and die
Driving in on this highway
All these cars and upon the sidewalk
People in every direction
No words exchanged
No time to exchange
When all the little ants are marching
Red and black antennas waving
They all do it the same
They all do it the same way
Candyman teasing the thoughts of a
Sweet tooth tortured by the weight loss
Programs cutting the corners
Loose end, loose end, cut, cut
On the fence, could not to offend
Cut, cut, cut, cut
Take these chances
Place them in a box until a quieter time
Lights down, you up and die
