Route 231 is a highway in the St. Louis, Missouri, area. It begins at U.S. Routes 61 and 67 (US61/ US67) in Arnold. It follows Telegraph Road through Jefferson and St. Louis counties, then continues as Kingston Drive and then Broadway Street. It ends at River City Casino Boulevard, just inside the St. Louis city limits. The road continues north, further into the city, as Broadway.
State Route 30 ran from Interstate 210 in San Dimas to Interstate 10 in Redlands through San Bernardino. It was built to freeway standards between Interstate 215 in San Bernardino and Interstate 10 and between the current terminus of State Route 57 in San Dimas to Foothill Blvd. in La Verne. When the freeway section between Foothill Blvd. and Interstate 215 was completed in 2007, the route was decommissioned and renumbered SR 210. It is expected to be included into the interstate highway system at some later date as an extension to Interstate 210.
State Route 31
State Route 31 ran from State Route 91 near Corona to Interstate 15 in Devore through San Bernardino. The route was deleted in 1974, when it was added to the interstate system. After being signed California 31, It was signed Temporary Interstate 15, and later, after being moved from Main Street in Corona, Hamner Avenue in Riverside County north of Corona, and Milliken Avenue in San Bernardino County to the Ontario Freeway. Became Interstate 15.
New York State Route231 (NY231) is a north–south state highway located in Suffolk County, New York, in the United States. The route extends for 9.05 miles (14.56km) from a partial interchange with NY27A in Babylon to an interchange with the Northern State Parkway in Dix Hills. The southernmost 2 miles (3.2km) of NY231 is a limited-access highway known as the Babylon–Northport Expressway; the remainder of NY231 is known as Deer Park Avenue.
Route description
NY231 begins at an interchange with NY27A (Montauk Highway) in Babylon. The route progresses northward around Hawleys Lake as a four-lane freeway. A short distance after NY27A, NY231 meets ramps from County Route50 (CR50, named John Street), but does provide service to the county road from either direction. After John Street, the freeway crosses over the Long Island Railroad's Babylon Branch and crosses northward through a large residential district. After paralleling Madison Street in North Babylon, NY231 intersects with NY27 (the Sunrise Highway) in a full cloverleaf interchange. From NY27, NY231 heads northward and northwestward, intersecting with Hunter Avenue in North Babylon, where the freeway portion ends and the highway becomes an arterial boulevard. The route curves back to the north through the large commercial district, interchanging with CR34 (Deer Park Avenue). Right after the interchange, NY231 interchanges with the Southern State Parkway at a full cloverleaf in North Babylon.
US 69 begins at its southern terminus with SH 87 in Port Arthur. This intersection is also the southern terminus for US 96 and US 287, which are concurrent with US 69. US 69, US 96, and US 287 continue in a northwest, then west, route until its intersection with Interstate 10 in southern Beaumont. At this intersection, US 69, US 96, and US 287 merge with I-10. I-10/US 69/US 96/US 287 continue in a northerly direction through Beaumont for several miles. Just after the intersection with US 90, I-10 splits from the multiplex and resumes its easterly course, leaving US 69, US 96, and US 287 heading northwest through Beaumont. US 69 north of I-10 is also known officially known as Eastex Freeway, and is an official evacuation route, just as Interstate 69/US 59 heading north from Houston is known as Eastex Freeway as well.
From its original junction at U.S. Route 101 in Ventura, California, the route continues along State Route 33 up to Ojai, temporarily joining State Route 150. Leaving Ojai, it continued into the Los Padres National Forest along the Maricopa Highway, with its summit at Pine Mountain. Descending into the Cuyama River Valley, it met State Route 166 and travelled east towards Maricopa past what is now the Carrizo Plain National Monument and crossing the axis of the San Andreas Fault into the southern San Joaquin Valley. In Maricopa, it continued north again with State Route 33 into the southern Midway-Sunset Oil Field and intersecting modern State Route 119 in Taft. From Taft, U.S. 399 followed State Route 119 out of town through Valley Acres and past the modern Buena Vista Recreation Area (the old Buena Vista Lake) towards U.S. Route 99 (now State Route 99) in Pumpkin Center and Greenfield, then with the old alignment of U.S. Route 99 (Union Avenue, SR 99 Bus.) north into Bakersfield where it terminated. This ending, being a useless concurrency, was later truncated to U.S. Route 99 until U.S. Route 399 was decommissioned.
U.S. Route66 (US66 or Route66), also known as the Will Rogers Highway and colloquially known as the Main Street of America or the Mother Road, was one of the original highways within the U.S. Highway System. Route66 was established on November 11, 1926, with road signs erected the following year. The highway, which became one of the most famous roads in America, originally ran from Chicago, Illinois, through Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona before ending at Santa Monica, California, covering a total of 2,448 miles (3,940km). It was recognized in popular culture by both the hit song "(Get Your Kicks on) Route 66" and the Route66 television show in the 1960s.
Route66 served as a major path for those who migrated west, especially during the Dust Bowl of the 1930s, and it supported the economies of the communities through which the road passed. People doing business along the route became prosperous due to the growing popularity of the highway, and those same people later fought to keep the highway alive in the face of the growing threat of being bypassed by the new Interstate Highway System.
U.S. Route 231 (US 231) in Indiana is a main north–south highway in the western part of the state. The southern terminus of US231 is at the Kentucky state line and the northern terminus is at US41 just south of St. John. The highway is a mixture of expressway and two-lane roadway. The expressway is mainly in southern Indiana and around the Lafayette area, with the rest mainly being two-lanes.
US231 was initially signed as a state road from Spencer to Lafayette. North of Lafayette, the road was a U.S. Highway until it was decommissioned in favor of US231. This route will become an expressway in southern Indiana from the current northern terminus of the expressway to the future interchange at Interstate 69 (I–69).
Route description
US231 contains two segments included as a part of the National Highway System (NHS). The first segment runs from the Kentucky state line to SR558 and the second segment runs from I-70 to Lafayette. The highway is maintained by the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) like all other U.S. Highways in the state. The department tracks the traffic volumes along all state highways as a part of its maintenance responsibilities using a metric called average annual daily traffic (AADT). This measurement is a calculation of the traffic level along a segment of roadway for any day of the year. In 2010, INDOT calculated that the section of US231 with the lowest average daily traffic levels – with 1,100vehicles and 180 commercial vehicles – was from US52 to I–65. The peak traffic volumes on US231 was 27,990vehicles and 1,950 commercial vehicles AADT along the section concurrent with US52.
