U.S. Route 69
U.S. Route 69 is a north–south United States highway. When it was first created, it was only 150 miles (241 km) long, but it has since been expanded into a Minnesota to Texas cross-country route. The highway's southern terminus (as well as those of US 287 and US 96) is in Port Arthur, Texas at an intersection with State Highway 87. Its northern terminus is in Albert Lea, Minnesota at Minnesota State Highway 13.

US 69 begins at its southern terminus with SH 87 in Port Arthur. This intersection is also the southern terminus for US 96 and US 287, which are concurrent with US 69. US 69, US 96, and US 287 continue in a northwest, then west, route until its intersection with Interstate 10 in southern Beaumont. At this intersection, US 69, US 96, and US 287 merge with I-10. I-10/US 69/US 96/US 287 continue in a northerly direction through Beaumont for several miles. Just after the intersection with US 90, I-10 splits from the multiplex and resumes its easterly course, leaving US 69, US 96, and US 287 heading northwest through Beaumont. US 69 north of I-10 is also known officially known as Eastex Freeway, and is an official evacuation route, just as Interstate 69/US 59 heading north from Houston is known as Eastex Freeway as well.

U.S. Route 14
U.S. Route 14 (abbreviated U.S. 14 or US 14), an east–west route, is one of the original United States highways of 1926. It currently has a length of 1,398 miles (2,250 km), but it had a peak length of 1,429 miles (2,300 km). For much of its length, it runs roughly parallel to Interstate 90.
As of 2004, the highway's eastern terminus is in Chicago, Illinois. Its western terminus is the east entrance of Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming, with the western terminus of U.S. Route 16 and the western terminus of the eastern segment of U.S. Route 20.

U.S. 14 begins at the east entrance to Yellowstone National Park, along with U.S. 16 and the eastern segment of U.S. 20. It travels through the Shoshone National Forest to Cody, where U.S. 14A splits off to the north. Both routes traverse the dry Bighorn Basin, followed by a steep ascent up the Big Horn Mountains and through the Bighorn National Forest, where they rejoin at Burgess Junction. The highway descends the eastern slope of the Bighorns between Burgess Junction and Dayton. U.S. 14 briefly follows I-90 south from Ranchester to Sheridan. The highway turns east and then south to again join I-90 near Gillette. It splits off for a short time to Carlile, then rejoins I-90 which it follows to the state line.

U.S. Route 160
U.S. Route 160 is a 1,465 mile (2,358 km) long east–west United States highway in the Midwestern United States. The western terminus of the route is at US 89 five miles (8 km) west of Tuba City, Arizona. The eastern terminus is at US 67 and Missouri 158 southwest of Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
Its route, if not its number, was made famous in song in 1975, as the road from Wolf Creek Pass to Pagosa Springs, Colorado in C.W. McCall's country music song Wolf Creek Pass.

US 160 begins at US 89 near the western edge of Navajo Nation. Near Tuba City, it intersects State Route 264. It goes through Tonalea and Cow Springs before entering Kayenta, where it intersects U.S. Route 163. It continues northeast through Dennehotso, then has a brief overlap with U.S. Route 191 in Mexican Water. It goes east until Teec Nos Pos, where it intersects U.S. Route 64, then turns northeast to go to the Four Corners and enters New Mexico.
US 160 is one of the major routes crossing the Navajo Nation and in Arizona does not leave the Navajo Nation.

Ontario Highway 14
King's Highway 14, commonly referred to as Highway 14, was a provincially maintained highway in the Canadian province of Ontario. At its peak length, the route connected Highway 33 in Bloomfield, near Picton, with Highway 7 in Marmora. Portions of this longer route are now designated as Highway 62. Prior to being decommissioned, the route connected Highway 62 in Foxboro with Highway 7 in Marmora, via Stirling.
What became Highway 14 was designated as part of the original Ontario Highway System in 1920. The route, connecting Picton, Belleville and Foxboro, was numbered in 1925. The route was extended north to Marmora in 1928, and remained generally stable over the next fifty years. In 1982, the Norris Whitney Bridge was opened over the Bay of Quinte. Consequently, the section of Highway 14 south of Foxboro was renumbered as Highway 62. The remainder of the highway was decommissioned on April 1, 1997, the only of the original fifteen 1925 highways to have its number completely removed from the provincial highway system.

Missouri Route 14
Route 14 is a state highway traveling through the southern part of the U.S. state of Missouri. Its western terminus is at U.S. Route 60 (US 60) in Marionville, and its eastern terminus is at US 63 on the northern edge of West Plains. Route 14 is a two-lane highway for its entire length.
Formerly this road's western terminus was at US 71 in Joplin, and its eastern terminus was at US 67 southwest of Poplar Bluff. These sections are now US 160, Route 174, and Interstate 44 (I-44). The section between Mount Vernon and the southeast corner of Douglas County was Route 40 from 1922 to 1926.
Route description
Route 14 begins at the northern boundary of West Plains at an intersection with US 63. It will be 52 miles (84 km) before Route 14 enters another town. The highway passes through the hilly country of the Ozarks, and shortly after it starts, it enters the Mark Twain National Forest and forms a short 4.8 miles (7.7 km) concurrency with Route 181 from the twin bridges west. Twenty-eight miles (45 km) west of US 63, Route 14 intersects Route 95. Twenty-three miles (37 km) west of the intersection with Route 95 is Ava and an intersection with Route 76 and Route 5. West of Ava, the highway winds its way west to Sparta, where it joins with Route 125 for two miles (3 km).

In the U.S. state of Wyoming, U.S. Highway 14 (US 14) runs east to west across the northern part of the state. The road connects South Dakota on the east with Yellowstone National Park on the west. It is mostly a two lane surface road except for several sections that it shares with Interstate 90.
Route description
While the official western terminus of the road is at the Eastern gate of Yellowstone National Park there is an unsigned section within the park itself starting at a junction with U.S. Route 89 and U.S. Route 287 at West Thumb and following the northern shore of Yellowstone Lake. From the park US 14 is co-signed with U.S. Route 16 and U.S. Route 20. The roads lead east out of the Absaroka Range and down the Shoshone River valley to Cody. Here, U.S. Route 14 Alternate (US 14A) splits north toward Powell, while US 14/16/20 continues east across the Bighorn Basin to Greybull. At Greybull, US 16 and US 20 go south, while US 14 travels east to Shell, and the western slope of the Big Horn Mountains. The road ascends a windy path through steep Shell Canyon and rejoins US 14A at the top of the range at Burgess Junction. The road is designated as Bighorn Scenic Byway between Shell and Dayton on the eastern side of the mountain range. On the east side of the Bighorns, the road merges with Interstate 90 and travels southeast to Sheridan, Wyoming. From Sheridan, the road continues east, rejoining with US Route 16 near Clearmont. The roads travel across the Powder River Country to Gillette, Wyoming where it joins again with Interstate 90 to Moorcroft. From here, it diverges north from Interstate 90 briefly to junction with Wyoming Highway 24 with access to Devils Tower National Monument. US 14 turns south and rejoins Interstate 90 which it follows to the eastern border of Wyoming and South Dakota.

State Route 14 (SR 14) is a 180.66-mile-long (290.74 km) state highway in the U.S. state of Washington. The highway travels east-west on the north side of the Columbia River, opposite Interstate 84 (I-84) to the south in Oregon. SR 14 forms a section of the Lewis and Clark Trail Scenic Byway and begins at an interchange with I-5 in Vancouver. The highway travels east as a four-lane freeway through Camas and Washougal and intersects I-205. SR 14 continues east as a two-lane highway through Clark, Skamania, Klickitat, and Benton counties before it ends at an interchange with I-82 and U.S. Route 395 (US 395) near Plymouth.

Route 66 is the United State's historic highway that was established in 1926, It is over 2,400 miles, and it goes from Santa Monica, California to Chicago, Illinois. The route was used by many who migrated west during the 1900s and it was popularized in songs, TV series and The Grapes of Wrath. My dad and I went on a full Route 66 road trip over 14 days in June of 2019 and made this video to share what the route looked like during that time period and to encourage others to drive this historic road.

In the series finale of the NB IL Route 59 VirtualRoad series, we drive up the remaining miles of IL Route 59 north through western Lake County, IL through several smaller suburbs before reaching the final one of Antioch, IL just over one mile south of the Wisconsin State Line. I always love driving up through Lake County and it's beauty. It is a nice mix of hills, woods, prairies, lakes, and suburb. You'll notice that the road is mostly one lane in each direction with the exception of between Wauconda and Fox Lake when we are on the same road as U.S. Route 12. Western Lake County is largely rural with suburban areas in each of the suburbs we pass through. Many of the suburbs further north were historically more like "getaway" towns that people in the big city would go to get away and hang out on the water. You'll see lots of boat dealers in the back half of the ride since there are many lakes up there with houses that back up to them.
Enjoy this last ride of this series through hills, woods, prairies, and by lakes up to the end of the road in the heart of Antioch, IL!

Interstate 89 (I-89) is a major highway in the New England region, running from Bow, New Hampshire, to the Canada–United States border between Highgate Springs, Vermont, and Saint-Armand, Quebec. Despite being marked as a north-south route, I-89 actually follows a northwest-southeast path. The highway serves as a key connection between Montreal, Canada, and Boston, U.S., with Quebec's Route 133 continuing northward into Canada. When Quebec completes Autoroute 35, there will be a nonstop freeway between these two cities.
The largest cities directly served by I-89 include Concord in New Hampshire, and Montpelier and Burlington in Vermont. I-89 is one of three major Interstates located entirely in New England, along with I-91 and I-93. Unlike other highways, I-89 doesn’t intersect any east-west Interstates, but it parallels several U.S. routes like US Route 4, US Route 2, and US Route 7, overlapping with them in certain sections.
In Vermont’s Chittenden County, I-89 has an auxiliary route, I-189, which connects South Burlington to downtown Burlington. Construction is underway to further link this route with the Champlain Parkway.
In New Hampshire, I-89 spans about 61 miles, primarily serving the western part of the state. The highway begins at an interchange with I-93 near Concord, running northwest through rural towns like Hopkinton, Grantham, and Warner, before reaching Lebanon at the Vermont state line. Notable population centers along the route include Concord and Lebanon. The towns of Grantham and Enfield, which are less populated, were affected by the highway’s construction, and unique exit names like “Montcalm” and “Purmort” were selected by local officials to reflect the history of the area.
Crossing into Vermont, I-89 continues its journey northwest. It intersects I-91 near White River Junction and continues through scenic areas such as the Green Mountains and Vermont’s capital, Montpelier. Important towns along the way include Barre, Waterbury, and St. Albans. The highway eventually reaches Burlington, where it transitions from the mountainous regions into the Champlain Valley. The busy exit 14 near Burlington connects to downtown, the University of Vermont, and retail areas.
I-89’s northern stretch passes through small towns like Milton, Georgia, and Swanton before ending at the Canada-U.S. border in Highgate Springs. At the border, I-89 transitions into Quebec’s Route 133, though this route is not a freeway. Historically, I-89 was part of the Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1956, originally planned to run from Norwalk, Connecticut, to the Canadian border. State Route 14 (SR 14) is a 180.66-mile-long (290.74 km) state highway in the U.S. state of Washington. The highway travels east-west on the north side of the Columbia River, opposite Interstate 84 (I-84) to the south in Oregon. SR 14 forms a section of the Lewis and Clark Trail Scenic Byway and begins at an interchange with I-5 in Vancouver. The highway travels east as a four-lane freeway through Camas and Washougal and intersects I-205. SR 14 continues east as a two-lane highway through Clark, Skamania, Klickitat, and Benton counties before it ends at an interchange with I-82 and U.S. Route 395 (US 395) near Plymouth.

Route 66 is the United State's historic highway that was established in 1926, It is over 2,400 miles, and it goes from Santa Monica, California to Chicago, Illinois. The route was used by many who migrated west during the 1900s and it was popularized in songs, TV series and The Grapes of Wrath. My dad and I went on a full Route 66 road trip over 14 days in June of 2019 and made this video to share what the route looked like during that time period and to encourage others to drive this historic road.

In the series finale of the NB IL Route 59 VirtualRoad series, we drive up the remaining miles of IL Route 59 north through western Lake County, IL through several smaller suburbs before reaching the final one of Antioch, IL just over one mile south of the Wisconsin State Line. I always love driving up through Lake County and it's beauty. It is a nice mix of hills, woods, prairies, lakes, and suburb. You'll notice that the road is mostly one lane in each direction with the exception of between Wauconda and Fox Lake when we are on the same road as U.S. Route 12. Western Lake County is largely rural with suburban areas in each of the suburbs we pass through. Many of the suburbs further north were historically more like "getaway" towns that people in the big city would go to get away and hang out on the water. You'll see lots of boat dealers in the back half of the ride since there are many lakes up there with houses that back up to them.
Enjoy this last ride of this series through hills, woods, prairies, and by lakes up to the end of the road in the heart of Antioch, IL!

Interstate 89 (I-89) is a major highway in the New England region, running from Bow, New Hampshire, to the Canada–United States border between Highgate Springs, Vermont, and Saint-Armand, Quebec. Despite being marked as a north-south route, I-89 actually follows a northwest-southeast path. The highway serves as a key connection between Montreal, Canada, and Boston, U.S., with Quebec's Route 133 continuing northward into Canada. When Quebec completes Autoroute 35, there will be a nonstop freeway between these two cities.
The largest cities directly served by I-89 include Concord in New Hampshire, and Montpelier and Burlington in Vermont. I-89 is one of three major Interstates located entirely in New England, along with I-91 and I-93. Unlike other highways, I-89 doesn’t intersect any east-west Interstates, but it parallels several U.S. routes like US Route 4, US Route 2, and US Route 7, overlapping with them in certain sections.
In Vermont’s Chittenden County, I-89 has an auxiliary route, I-189, which connects South Burlington to downtown Burlington. Construction is underway to further link this route with the Champlain Parkway.
In New Hampshire, I-89 spans about 61 miles, primarily serving the western part of the state. The highway begins at an interchange with I-93 near Concord, running northwest through rural towns like Hopkinton, Grantham, and Warner, before reaching Lebanon at the Vermont state line. Notable population centers along the route include Concord and Lebanon. The towns of Grantham and Enfield, which are less populated, were affected by the highway’s construction, and unique exit names like “Montcalm” and “Purmort” were selected by local officials to reflect the history of the area.
Crossing into Vermont, I-89 continues its journey northwest. It intersects I-91 near White River Junction and continues through scenic areas such as the Green Mountains and Vermont’s capital, Montpelier. Important towns along the way include Barre, Waterbury, and St. Albans. The highway eventually reaches Burlington, where it transitions from the mountainous regions into the Champlain Valley. The busy exit 14 near Burlington connects to downtown, the University of Vermont, and retail areas.
I-89’s northern stretch passes through small towns like Milton, Georgia, and Swanton before ending at the Canada-U.S. border in Highgate Springs. At the border, I-89 transitions into Quebec’s Route 133, though this route is not a freeway. Plans to complete Autoroute 35, connecting I-89 directly with Montreal, are expected to be finished by 2025.
Historically, I-89 was part of the Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1956, originally planned to run from Norwalk, Connecticut, to the Canadian border. However, opposition led to a shift in its route, creating a connection between Boston and Montreal. The first sections opened in the early 1960s, with the highway being fully completed by 1982. Some parts of the original I-89 plan were built in Connecticut and Vermont and are now part of U.S. Route 7.
Future developments on I-89 include several infrastructure projects, such as reconstructing the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Bridge between Vermont and New Hampshire and building Vermont’s first diverging diamond interchange at exit 16 in Colchester. Additionally, improvements are planned for exit 17 in Colchester to reduce traffic congestion. These projects are expected to be completed by 2026.

U.S. Route 69
U.S. Route 69 is a north–south United States highway. When it was first created, it was only 150 miles (241 km) long, but it has since been expanded into a Minnesota to Texas cross-country route. The highway's southern terminus (as well as those of US 287 and US 96) is in Port Arthur, Texas at an intersection with State Highway 87. Its northern terminus is in Albert Lea, Minnesota at Minnesota State Highway 13.

US 69 begins at its southern terminus with SH 87 in Port Arthur. This intersection is also the southern terminus for US 96 and US 287, which are concurrent with US 69. US 69, US 96, and US 287 continue in a northwest, then west, route until its intersection with Interstate 10 in southern Beaumont. At this intersection, US 69, US 96, and US 287 merge with I-10. I-10/US 69/US 96/US 287 continue in a northerly direction through Beaumont for several miles. Just after the intersection with US 90, I-10 splits from the multiplex and resumes its easterly course, leaving US 69, US 96, and US 287 heading northwest through Beaumont. US 69 north of I-10 is also known officially known as Eastex Freeway, and is an official evacuation route, just as Interstate 69/US 59 heading north from Houston is known as Eastex Freeway as well.
