Tuppy is engaged to Bertie's favourite cousin, Angela Travers. Jeeves has ruined Tuppy's relationships with the opera singer Cora Bellinger and the dog lover Miss Dalgleish in order to keep Tuppy with Angela, usually upon the request of Angela's mother (Bertie's AuntDahlia). In Right Ho, Jeeves, Angela breaks the engagement because Tuppy disparages a shark that had attacked her while she was aquaplaning in Cannes. Bertie makes an attempt to restore the status quo with disastrous results, causing Jeeves to step in and restore their engagement with his normal brilliance.
Tuppy's uncle is Bertie's nemesis (and later good friend) Sir Roderick Glossop and his cousin is Bertie's ex-fiancée Honoria Glossop.
In the book Much Obliged, Jeeves, Angela and Tuppy haven't married after being two years engaged due to a lack of funds on Tuppy's part. Angela's mother Dahlia takes it upon herself to do something about Tuppy's financial woes. She decides that L.P Runkle of Runkle Enterprises owes Tuppy money for Tuppy's late father's invention, a hangover remedy which allowed Runkle to rake in millions, while Tuppy's father did not make any profit on the invention. She subsequently attempts to extort the money from Runkle by pinching his porringer, although that had proved to be a bust. With Jeeves's brilliance and the Junior Ganymede Club book she manages to make Runkle cough up the money.
Glossop is a market town within the Borough of High Peak in Derbyshire, England. It lies on the Glossop Brook, a tributary of the River Etherow, about 15 miles (24km) east of the city of Manchester, 24 miles (39km) west of the city of Sheffield and 32 miles (51km) north of the county town of Matlock. Glossop is situated near Derbyshire's county borders with Cheshire, Greater Manchester, South Yorkshire and West Yorkshire. It is between 150 and 300 metres (492 and 984ft) above mean sea level, and uses the tagline "the gateway to the Peak DistrictNational Park". Like nearby Buxton, it differs from other areas of the borough in that it is an unparished area, and this distinction defines its boundaries. Glossop is the sixth largest settlement in Derbyshire with a total resident population of 33,020 according to the 2011 census.
Historically the name Glossop refers to the small hamlet that gave its name to an ancient parish recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086, and then the manor given by William I of England to William Peverel. It refers to the municipal borough created in 1866, and the unparished urban area within two local government wards. The area now known as Glossop approximates to the villages that used to be called Glossopdale, on the lands of the Howard family, Dukes of Norfolk. Originally known as a centre of wool processing, Glossop rapidly expanded in the late 18th century when it specialised in the production and printing of calico, a coarse cotton. Under the benign patronage of the Howards and other mill-owning families the villages became a mill town with many chapels and churches, its fortunes tied to the cotton industry.
Although one of the smaller towns of South Australia's Riverland region, Glossop has a gallery of Australian Aboriginal art, a small deli (in the Australian sense of the word), two petrol stations, and some hardware shops. It also has a number of religious centres servicing the region including a Sikh Temple, and an Apostolic (Christian pentecostal) church (Riverland Central Christian Church). It is on the Old Sturt Highway, between the more major towns of Barmera and Berri. Glossop also has a motel outside which is situated Captain Glossop's Anchor.
