Tulsa International Airport(IATA: TUL,ICAO: KTUL,FAALID: TUL) is a civil-military airport five miles (8km) northeast of downtown Tulsa, in Tulsa County, Oklahoma. It was named Tulsa Municipal Airport when the city acquired it in 1929. It got its present name in 1963.
The airport is the global maintenance headquarters for American Airlines.
The Council Oak Senior Squadron and Starbase Composite Squadron of Civil Air Patrol meet on the field, with Council Oak at FBO Sparks Aviation and the Starbase squadron meeting at the Oklahoma Air National Guard Base on the Northeast side of the field. Additionally, two Civil Air Patrol aircraft are based at TUL, a Cessna 172 and Cessna 182 respectively.
During World War II Air Force Plant No. 3 was built on the southeast side of the airport, and Douglas Aircraft manufactured several types of aircraft there. After the war this facility was used by Douglas (later McDonnell Douglas) and Rockwell International (later Boeing) for aircraft manufacturing, modification, repair, and research.Spirit AeroSystems currently builds Commercial Airline parts for Boeing aircraft in part of the building and IC Bus Corporation assembles school buses in the other part.
An international airport is an airport that offers customs and immigration facilities for passengers travelling between countries. International airports are typically larger than domestic airports and often feature longer runways and facilities to accommodate the heavier aircraft commonly used for international and intercontinental travel. International airports often also host domestic flights. Some, such as Frankfurt Airport in Germany are very large; others such as Fa'a'ā International Airport in Tahiti, are quite small.
Buildings, operations and management have become increasingly sophisticated since the mid 20th century, when international airports began to provide infrastructure for international civilian flights. Detailed technical standards have been developed to ensure safety and common coding systems implemented to provide global consistency. The physical structures that serve millions of individual passengers and flights are among the most complex and interconnected in the world. By the second decade of the 21st century, there were over 1,200 international airports and almost two billion international passengers along with 50 million metric tonnes of cargo were passing through them annually.
Memphis International Airport(IATA: MEM,ICAO: KMEM,FAALID: MEM) is a civil-military airport seven miles (11.2km) southeast of downtown Memphis, in Shelby County, Tennessee.
Memphis International Airport is home to the FedEx Express global hub, which processes many of the company's packages. Nonstop FedEx destinations from Memphis include cities across the continental United States, Europe, Middle East, Asia and South America. From 1993 to 2009 Memphis had the largest cargo operations of any airport worldwide. MEM dropped into second position in 2010, behind Hong Kong; however, it remained the busiest cargo airport in the United States.
As of 2014, Memphis International Airport had a passenger count of 3.75 million, up slightly from the 2014 year.Delta Air Lines dropped Memphis as a hub airport after continually reducing flights following its 2008 merger with Northwest Airlines. As of July 2014 MEM averaged 83 total passenger flights per day on all of the airlines serving the city. The airport has since added several airlines, including Southwest, Frontier, and Allegiant, which has increased competition among the carriers. Since Delta's departure as a hub operation, average round trip prices have declined significantly. The July–September 2014 quarter alone saw a 4.7% decline from the quarter a year earlier.
Philadelphia International Airport(IATA: PHL,ICAO: KPHL,FAALID: PHL), often referred to just by its IATA code PHL, is a major airport in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States, and is the largest airport in the Delaware Valley region and in the state. The airport is a major international hub for American Airlines and a regional cargo hub for UPS Airlines. The airport has service to destinations in the United States, Canada, the Caribbean, Latin America, Europe and the Middle East. Most of the airport property is located in Philadelphia proper. The international terminal and the western end of the airfield are located in Tinicum Township, Delaware County.

Visit https://www.faa.gov/tul for supplemental "pilot handbook" information on this airport including airport-specific cautions, information local controllers want pilots to know, airport communications, airspace details and other preflight planning resources.
0:47 - The runway configuration consists of two parallel runways with staggered thresholds: 18 left and right and 36 left and right, with intersecting runway 8-26. This intersecting runway crosses the larger runway 18 left, 36 right, but not the shorter 18 right, 36 left. A perimeter road circles most of the airport and on the west side, has been mistaken for taxiway Mike.
1:32 - Tulsa has associated Class Charlie airspace, and first time visitors should review the requirements for operating in it. Located underneath the outer ring of the Class Charlie, are several private and public use uncontrolled airports. Arriving pilots need to be aware that departures from these airports have sometimes entered this airspace without the proper coordination.
2:02 - Just east of TUL and on final for runway 26, is a drag racing strip that has the same orientation as the runway and has been mistaken for it in the past. Another potential for misidentification is the large multi-lane highway that runs north and south, paralleling runway 18 left, 36 right.
2:39 - Another area of concern facing arrivals to Tulsa in the south configuration is a small auxiliary airfield located to the northeast. While these operations are coordinated with the control tower, a number of military helicopters operating at low level can surprise pilots.
2:59 - The risk of wrong runway landings exists due to TUL's parallel runways and staggered thresholds. In addition, runway 18 right, 36 left has a full-length parallel taxiway on its west side.
Confusion most often occurs when Tulsa is landing south utilizing runways 18 left and right. Also
be aware of possible confusion when landing runway 18 right, 36 left. Runway 8-26 comes close but does not intersect runway 18 right, 36 left.
4:06 - Beware of possible bird strikes.
The FAA's From the Flight Deck video series uses aircraft-mounted cameras to capture runway and taxiway footage and combines them with diagrams and visual graphics to clearly identify hot spots and other safety-sensitive items. Learn more at https://www.faa.gov/FromTheFlightDeck

Tulsa International (TUL) is a medium sized multi-use airport, located on the northeast edge of Tulsa Oklahoma. It serves air carrier, air cargo, business and general aviation, as well as locally based and itinerant military aircraft. This mix of pilot experience and aircraft capability makes TUL challenging for pilots and controllers.
This video is informational only and does not replace the pilot’s responsibility to conduct required pre-flight planning in accordance with FAR 91.103.

Wide awake I'm on a plane out of town Fly away From the weight of the world On the ground I'm international But I don't know where to go Hopefully where summer days Can melt these winter bones I'm international And you're orbiting my brain I'm reduced to writing nothing All over napkins on the plane Wide awake I'm on a plane out of town Taking pictures of myself In the mirror on wall Trying hard not to make my space The loneliest place of all Early warning all across the sky Clouds are rolling in on your light Any change from here would be The wisest change of all Any place from here up here Would be the finest place to fall Wide awake I'm on a plane out of town I'm losing track of myself On all the time zone lines And if I daylight save Do I jump ahead or fall behind? And I'm fine 'cause I know Any plane I ride Can fly me home And I'm fine 'cause I know You know, I know It's easy to see Clouds were built for dreams Because nothing up there Is as easy as it seems I step out And try to walk around As I fall, I look up And wonder why it let me down I'm international That's twice the speed of sound I just hope I take off from here Before I hit the ground If I could get to heaven By an airplane in the sky We would always be in love And we would always love to fly Wide awake I'm on a plane out of town Taking pictures of myself In the mirror on wall Trying hard not to make my space The loneliest place of all And I'm fine 'cause I know Any plane I ride Can fly me home And I'm fine 'cause I know You know, I know And I'm fine 'cause I know Any plane I ride Can fly me home And I'm fine 'cause I know Any plane I ride Can fly me home You know, I know
