Were Trilobites the most successful animal ever?!🪳 GEO GIRL
Trilobites were extremely successful and diverse arthropods that lived for almost 300 million years, survived several mass exintction events, and dominated almost every ecological niche in Paleozoic seas! In this video, I discuss th extinction events trilobites survived, the impact of these extinction events on trilobite diversity and abundance, why trilobites were so successful and long lived, and what finally led to the extinction of the trilobites at the end of the Permian during the greatest extinction event of all time, the Great Dying! Hope you enjoy ;)
The 'First Predator' video I mention at the end is not public yet, it is channel member-only for the time being, but it will come out for everyone next week (7/30)! ;D

Is this the most successful animal ever? - Nigel Hughes
Discover the creatures known as trilobites, one of Earth’s most successful early animals, and find out what led to their extinction.
--
Prevailing for around 270 million years and encompassing more than 20,000 distinct species, trilobites are some of the most successful lifeforms in Earth’s history. When they sprung into existence, they were among the most diverse and sophisticated organisms on the planet and so had a unique perspective on the ancient world. Nigel Hughes details the rise and fall of these hardy creatures.

The 'First Predator' video I mention at the end is not public yet, it is channel member-only for the time being, but it will come out for everyone next week (7/30)! ;D
