Circles - Chords, Radius & Diameter - Basic Introduction - Geometry
This geometry video tutorial provides a basic introduction into circles as relates to chords, the radius of a circle as well as its diameter. If a radius bisects a chord, it is always perpendicular to that chord. Also, if two chords are equidistant from the center of a circle, the two chords are congruent. This video contains a few practice problems on congruent chords. This tutorial explains how to calculate the radius of a circle given the distance of a chord from the center of a circle as well as the length of the chord. It also explains how to calculate the radius of a circle if a rectangle is inscribed inside of it.

How to Find the Length of a Chord in a Circle | Geometry, Circle Chords, Chord Length
How do we find the length of a chord in a circle? We go over circle chords, and how to find their length, in today's video math lesson!
Geometry sure is a blast! Today we get to go over trigonometry and sine ratios, we get to touch on right triangles, the isosceles triangle theorem, the hypotenuse leg congruence postulate for right triangles, central angles subtended by chords, and more! What a hoot!
If we have a chord of a circle with radius r, and the central angle subtended by that chord has a measure of A, then the length of the chord is 2*r*sin(A/2). We derive this formula, and go over an example of how to use it, in the video lesson. By understanding where it comes from, it is easy to recall!
I hope you find this video helpful, and be sure to ask any questions down in the comment...

Arcs and Chords - MathHelp.com - Geometry Help
For a complete lesson on arcs and chords, go to https://www.MathHelp.com - 1000+ online math lessons featuring a personal math teacher inside every lesson! In this lesson, students learn the following theorems related to arcs and chords. In the same circle or congruent circles, if two arcs are congruent, then their chords are congruent. If a diameter is perpendicular to a chord, then it bisects the chord and its arc. In the same circle or congruent circles, if two chords are the same distance from the center of a circle, then the chords are congruent. Students are then asked to solve problems related to these theorems using Algebra.

If we have a chord of a circle with radius r, and the central angle subtended by that chord has a measure of A, then the length of the chord is 2*r*sin(A/2). Definition of Chords in Cycles | Graph Theory, Chordless Cycles
What is a chord of a cycle in graph theory? We will define chords and give examples in today's graph theory lesson!
A chord of a cycle C is an edge that doesn't lie on C, but whose vertices DO lie on C. It's similar in appearance and concept to a chord of a circle, which is a line segment whose endpoints both lie on the circle.
A cycle with more than 3 vertices and no chords is called a chordless cycle or a graph hole.

Chordal Graphs, Perfect Graphs and Clique cover number.
In this video, we prove that: A simple graph has a simplicial elimination ordering if and only if it is chordal.
Next, we define perfect graphs and clique cover numbers.
And, we define when a family of graphs is hereditary with examples.
Finally, we prove that chordal graphs are perfect graphs.

Matrix completion, chordal graphs, and semidefinite optimization (Lecture 1)
Lieven Vandenberghe, UCLA
Winter School on Geometric Constraint Systems
http://www.fields.utoronto.ca/activities/20-21/constraint-school
Abstract: The lectures will give an introduction to sparse matrix completion problems and their applications in semidefinite optimization. Chordal graphs have an important place in the theory of several common types of symmetric matrix completion problems: maximum-determinant positive semidefinite completion, minimum-rank positive semidefinite completion, and Euclidean distance matrix completion. For sparsity patterns described by chordal graphs, these completion problems can be solved by explicit formulas or efficient recursive algorithms.
The lectures will cover the classical results from linear algebra and their convex geometry, and applications to...
