Lombolo - Kuppari || Acoustic Jam for Meänmaanpäivä (Tornedalian Flag Day)
On the 15th of July, which is the Tornedalian Flag Day, Walerius and Lennart performed a traditional Tornedalian tune on mandolin and accordion. This was originally only posted to our Facebook and Instagram, but we decided to upload it to YouTube as well. Kuppari was popularized by JP Nyströms and later Raj-Raj Band. We did a shortened version and put Walerius on the verse vocal because Lennart doesn't know Meänkieli. The truth is that Walerius barely speaks Meänkieli too, but don't tell Lennart that ;)

Matilda Kenttä - 'A Mouth Has More Flesh Than a Butterfly Can Carry'
Matilda Kenttä’s thesis is about gossip. She’s tracing the word’s meanings, from the Middle Ages when it meant close female friend, up to its negative connotation of back talking that it has today. Matilda Kenttä (graduate of the TXT department) is nominee of GRA Award Thesis 2020. Amongst the prizes is this video portrait, made by Luuk Heezen and Rik Lauwen (Rik Filmt), initiated by Public Rietveld.

5 Folk Festival in Stockholm - Sweden 4K Travel Channel
Kungsträdgarden in Stockholm is the ideal venue for music festivals in summer. Kungsträdgarden, Swedish for King's Garden, is a public park in the center of Stockholm. Finns
The terms Finns and Finnish people (Finland-Swedish: finländare - "citizen of Finland", Finnish: suomalaiset, Swedish: finländare) may refer in English to the inhabitants of Finland or only to ethnic Finns, also known as Baltic Finns, not including other ethnic groups such as Finland Swedes, Russians in Finland.
The group ethnic Finns includes the Baltic Finns of Finland and the Finnish-speaking population of Sweden, most of which have immigrated from Finland. Smaller native populations in neighboring countries include the Kvens in Norway, the Tornedalians of Sweden, and the Ingrian Finns of Russia. Finns can be divided according to dialect into subgroups sometimes called heimo (lit. tribe), although such divisions have become less important due to internal migration.

Russians (Russian: русские, russkiye) are an East Slavic ethnic group native to Eastern Europe. The majority of Russians inhabit the nation state of Russia, while notable minorities exist in other former Soviet states such as Belarus, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and the Baltic states. A large Russian diaspora also exists all over the world, with notable numbers in the United States, Germany, Israel, and Canada. Russians are the most numerous ethnic group in Europe.
Finns or Finnish people (Finnish: suomalaiset) are a Finnic ethnic group native to Finland.[38][39]
Finns are traditionally divided into smaller regional groups that span several countries adjacent to Finland, both those who are native to these countries as well as those who have resettled. Also, some of these may be classified as separate ethnic groups, rather than subgroups of Finns. These include the Kvens and Forest Finns in Norway, the Tornedalians in Sweden, and the Ingrian Finns in Russia. The most notable autochthonous group is the Finnish-speaking population of Sweden, who trace their origin to Second Swedish Crusade after which Finland came under Swedish rule.

In the middle of the grounds is the stage and in the north a small lake and a restaurant with a dance hall. On the eastern side, you can watch the games of the chess players.
During our visit in 2016, we happen to pass by chance and had no idea what is happening here. The organizer sees our camera and inquires for what purpose we film here. After explaining it to her, she gives us a program.
The 5 Folk Festival is annually on two days in July, with one week between. The intention of the festival is to familiarize the people with the culture and customs of the national minorities in Sweden. The focus is on Sami, Sweden Finns, Roma, Jews, and Tornedalians.
Different musical presentations take place on a big stage. But there are also countless entertainment possibilities for people of all ages.
We arrived at the sound check.
Then comes a part which is really great. Natti Alenius a well-known and acknowledged dance teacher and choreographer gives an introduction into the Tango dance. Young and older people like to take the offer and learn to dance the tango in a short time.
Afterward, Gabriela Gutarra instructs in flamenco dance.
We liked the very family-friendly approach of the people among each other. People of all ages are not afraid to practice something in public.
