Thomas Jefferson Scott (born May 28, 1912 in Campbelltown, Kentucky–12 August 1961 New York City) was an American composer and singer.
Biography
Scott studied music at the University of Kentucky, after which he moved to New York City when he joined Fred Waring's Glee Club. He was soon employed by the group as an arranger. In 1942 he began a successful career as a folk singer. He accompanied himself on the guitar and billed himself as "The American Troubador". He appeared at the Rainbow Room and the Cotillion Room of the Pierre Hotel among other venues. Garnering praise, Scott landed his own radio show which ran for several years.
Although Scott did write some of his own folk songs he is mostly remembered now for his classical works, and in particular his symphonic pieces which for the most part are rooted in American folk music. His symphonic works include Ballad of the Harp Weaver, Binorie Variations, Colloquy for Strings, Coney Island, Fanfare and Cantilena, Hornpipe and Chantey, Johnny Appleseed, Music for String Orchestra, and Symphony No. 1.
His work From the Sacred Harp was performed and recorded in its world premiere by the New York Philharmonic under the baton of Leopold Stokowski.
Tom Scott (6 June 1918 – 7 August 1995) was a Scottish poet, editor, and prose writer. His writing is closely tied to the New Apocalypse, the New Romantics, and the Scottish Renaissance.
Scott was born in Glasgow, Scotland. During World War II he served in the British Army in Britain and Nigeria. After the war he received an M.A. with Honours in English Literature and a Ph.D. from the University of Edinburgh. His first poems were published in 1941. Scott received an Atlantic Award for Literature in 1950 and traveled in France, Italy, and Sicily. During his travels he became interested in Scots literature as his own neglected native dialect, which shaped the direction of his work for the rest of his life.
He settled in Edinburgh and in 1953 married Heather Fretwell. He died in 1995 aged 77.

This is my newest poem, it took SIX MONTHS to write, but finally it all came together. This poem is basically a six month conversation I had with the Almighty. I was in a period of my life where life decided to hit me full force, and I felt terribly alone, and as if God was no where to be found. No matter where you are, what you've done, who you are, or where you are going, if you take anything from these three and a half minutes, know that Yahweh is with you, he can be the ULTIMATE sense of peace, if you only admit your humanity and fall into the grace and peace HE offers. - Matt Ross

Liam Dutton nails pronouncing Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch
It may be a mouthful to say, but Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch in north west Wales was one of the warmest places in the UK today.
And, it was no problem for our Welsh weather presenter Liam Dutton to mention it on today’s weather forecast.
