The county was originally settled by immigrants of "Yankee" stock (immigrants from New England and the western part of New York descended from the English Puritans whose ancestors settled New England in the colonial era). With the opening of a rough wagon road to the source of the Tioga River, New England settlers poured over the Allegheny Mountains. Tioga County resembled upstate New York more than it did Pennsylvania with its population primarily consisting of settlers from New England. Roads were laid out, post routes established, public buildings erected and people were invited to move there. The original settlers were entirely of New England origins or were Yankees from upstate New York whose families had moved to that place from New England only one generation earlier, in the aftermath of the Revolutionary War. This resulted in Tioga County being culturally contiguous with early New England culture.
USS Tioga County (LST-1158), a United States Navy landing ship tank in commission from 1953 to 1970 which also saw non-commissioned service in the Military Sealift Command from 1972 to 1973 as USNS Tioga County (T-LST-1158)
Pennsylvania is Pere Ubu's eleventh studio album. The album marks Tom Herman's return to Pere Ubu's studio work after a twenty-year absence.
Director's Cut
In 2005, to celebrate Pere Ubu's 30th Anniversary, a "Director's Cut" was released which featured new mastering, alternate mixes, and two bonus tracks. David Thomas explains: "The point of doing a Director's Cut is to benefit from that older and wiser thing. I reviewed all alternate mixes from the session, sometimes discovering that an earlier mix turned out to be superior to the chosen mix. As well, 10 years later, we have access to improved mastering technology. Consequently, there is a greater clarity and cohesion to the Director's Cut. We are not going to make both versions available. The Director's Cut is the way it's supposed to be. Period."
"Pennsylvania" is the official state song of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The song was written and composed by Eddie Khoury and Ronnie Bonner and serves as the official song for all public purposes. State Representative Frank L. Oliver introduced the bill for the song, and it was adopted by the General Assembly and signed into law by GovernorRobert P. Casey on November 29, 1990.

Fly Fishing Vintage, Tioga County, PA - Wooly Bugged
This is the second video in a series where Michael Evanko fly fishes for trout with vintage fly rods. In this video, Evanko searches for wild brook trout on a small tributary in Tioga County, Pennsylvania. He uses a Fenwick FL72-6 fiberglass fly rod. This video was the first time Evanko ever fished the rod. He purchased this rod through an estate sale on eBay. It is believed this rod is a custom wrapped blank from the mid 60s or early 70s. To his knowledge, the factory did not wrap with the multi-colored wraps shown on the rod in the video. If anyone has info on this rod, please comment below.
The stream fished in this video is a 4-5 mile long tributary and was not fished or hiked by Evanko prior to this video. Evanko accessed this stream by hiking a quarter mile into Tioga State Forest a...

Pennsylvania has emerged as one of the most important states in the country. Not only politically, but also economically and culturally. And this is largely because the state spans two distinct regions that are fairly different from each other. And right in the middle? A large, mostly empty region I've termed Pennsylvania's Empty Belt. So why don't more people live in central PA and and why is its east side so different from its west?
In this video, we'll cover the physical geography of Pennsylvania as one moves from east to west, the history of how the state developed into its two respective halves, and why the population of Pennsylvania largely coalesced in the far east and far west, but not really in its middle.

Tioga County is a county in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. As of the 2010 census, the population was 41,981. Its county seat is Wellsboro. The county was created on March 26, 1804, from part of Lycoming County and later organized in 1812. It is named for the Tioga River.
Evanko accessed this stream by hiking a quarter mile into Tioga State Forest and then hiking another 2.5 miles upstream. The water was 56-58 degrees at the time of filming. All brook trout in this video were caught on a #14 Lance Egan Corn Fed Caddis pattern.
