The Thornapple, a major Grand River tributary, is about 88 miles (142km) long. Its headwaters are located about 7 miles (11km) east of Charlotte, Michigan in Eaton County's Eaton township (only 7 miles (11km) west of the Grand River at Eaton Rapids). The Grand ultimately flows into Lake Michigan at Grand Haven, approximately 70 miles (110km) down stream. The Thornapple is described as "An easygoing stream that meanders through low southwest Michigan woodlands." The Thornapple itself has a major tributary in the Coldwater River. The Thornapple is the only major left tributary of the Grand River.

Crushing River Smallmouth Bass - Grand Rapids, MI - [Thornapple River]
Fishing pools and shoreline for Smallies!! We caught quite a few and had a great morning on the river. My brother and I tried to upgrade the size we caught from the last time we went out. We ended up catching a good amount of fish but nothing of a good size. What will it take to find a 20"+ smallmouth in this river?
Using Ned rigs with z-man plastics to catch a good amount of smallmouth bass in 3 hours. Watch and see us pull smaller smallmouth out of this Michigan River.
