A native of London, he was son of Laurence Horton, merchant, and a member of the Mercers' Company. He was admitted a pensioner of Emmanuel College, Cambridge, 8 July 1623, proceeding B.A. in 1626, was elected a Fellow of his college, and commenced M.A. in 1630. From 12 July 1638 till 28 November 1640 he was minister of St. Mary Colechurch, London, a donative of the Mercers' Company. He was elected professor of divinity in Gresham College, London, on 26 October 1641.
In 1644, Horton was one of the association of divines appointed by the parliament to ordain ministers in and near the city of London, and in the year following he subscribed the petition of the ministers of the province of London to the parliament, in which they prayed for the speedy establishment of the Presbyterian government in Congregational, classical, and national assemblies. He was a member of Gray's Inn, and from 18 May 1647 till 1657 was preacher there.
Thomas Horton was the son of William Horton and Isabell Freeman. Though of humble background, Horton was taken under the wing of the powerful Sir Arthur Haselrig, and had become a captain-lieutenant by 1643. Becoming a major in the New Model Army, Horton led troops which played a decisive part in several important engagements, most notably the Battle of Naseby in 1645 and Battle of St Fagans in 1648.
As a reward for the valiant service he rendered to the cause, Horton was granted the confiscated lands of a deposed royalist.
Horton was a commissioner of the High Court of Justice in 1649, and thus was among those who signed the warrant for the execution of King Charles I of England. Later that year, he died of natural causes while serving with Cromwell in Ireland.
His heirs were deprived of their estate at the Restoration in the 1660s.
"We're going to have to have labor costs that are competitive, as well."
"For many years students in the College have wanted to take computer science but not with the engineering focus -- they wanted to do additional majors like economics or psychology or something in the life sciences and the engineering degree didn't allow them to do both."
"These will be computer related courses taught by departments in the College, not by computer science. So an example of that kind of course would be a digital music course or a certain mathematics course."
"The business we're in is filling our airplanes, and we're going to fill as many of those seats we can."
"It is an industry that probably has too much capacity. It's probably too fragmented."
"The other airlines by virtue of the bankruptcy court have reduced their labor costs below where ours is today. That represents a competitive problem."
"I think the strategy of engaging labor is really the only strategy there is."
"I have a very strong belief in what Gerard is trying to do here."
"My coming back wasn't about coming back to the industry, it was about coming back to the company."
"Gerard is probably the most principled guy I know."

Thomas Horton #82 - Thruxton (Crash) with CSCC Tin Tops, September 2019
Being the fastest circuit on the calendar, Thruxton was quite intimidating for the first few laps. Having only had 5 laps in qualifying beforehand, I was really guessing my way around for the first lap before finding the grip and pushing even harder than I was. I made 12 places in 5 laps and was on course to take even more before I was unfortunately caught up in an incident where the blue Clio of Holloway ahead had an engine failure (which you can see from the puff of smoke). Not much damage, but enough to take me out of the race. Very disappointing, but we always look to the next race and keep our heads held high as a team.
