Red 7 - Heartbeat Official Video 1985
This group of guys from Los Angeles, California only achieved regional airplay on this 1985 "New Wave" classic. Song was released on MCA records during the summer of '85.Here in NYC it got a lot of airplay. But outside of a few major markets, it had little airplay.
Unfortunately it didn't receive any chart action despite sounding so much like "Peter Gabriel"!
The lp, however did hit # 105 and charted for 10 weeks.
This rare side, to my knowledge, was not released on any cd.
The group consisted of "Gene Shashuk" on vocals, "Michael Becker" on keyboards & "Paul Revelli" on drums.
They did however release 1 more lp on MCA titled:"When The Sun Goes Down", it reached # 175 on the lp chart.

INFO: Periphery is an american progressive rock band formed in Washington D.C. in 2005. Over the years the band has proved to be one of the prime movers of the so called djent genre, although many would simply label them progressive metal or progressive metalcore. The band has released six studio albums and all of them were self-produced by the band members themselves. Their latest album Periphery IV: Hail Stan just released earlier this month and they’ve become quite...

"Strong As I Am" written by Gregory Markel.
Gregory Markel, known to fans as "The Voice" due to his emotive 4+ octave range is an American Vocalist/Guitarist/Songwriter who spent time on U.S. Rock Radio Charts at Number 1 in the early 90's via Warner Bros Records recording group, Altered State. Markel's soulful and explosive vocals have been compared by the press to some of the greatest singers of our time including David Coverdale, Bono, Jeff Buckley and Robert Plant. It has also been stated: "F*!K everyone else!".
Gregory Markel is the Principal writer of The Prime Movers' hit "Strong As I Am" which charted within The BBC Top 20 and was the song that propelled The Prime Movers to the forefront. A regular at The Prime Movers' live shows was film director Michael Mann. Mann picked the song for the pivotal spot in his cult thriller, Manhunter. "Strong As I Am" was included in the Manhunter soundtrack and was released by MCA as a single. Michael Mann liked it so much that he personally financed the making of the "Strong As I Am" video. The video was filmed on the roof of the L.A. Stock Exchange Building. "Strong As I Am" was later used for the pivotal spot in the 1990 Sci-fi flick Abraxas: Guardian of the Universe.
The Manhuter Sountrack Ultimate Edition was release in 2001 and included a live acoustic version of "Strong As I Am" performed by Gregory Markel. "Strong As I Am" has made such an impact that it was chosen as the "Song to Inspire Social Workers". It was also chosen by a Father to be the song heard while driving his newborn home for the first time. In 2007 due to fan demand The Prime Movers remastered and reissued the single on Birdcage Records. And on April 6, 2010 Gregory Markel performed "Strong As I Am", the favorite song of fallen hero Lance Cpl. Rick J. Centanni during his memorial services at Riverside National Cemetery.
Prior to his joining The Prime Movers, Markel was the vocalist for The Living Daylights with Rusty Anderson (Ednaswap, Paul McCartney). 1984 saw the release of their 4 song EP. Scoring on the charts with "Colleen". After leaving The Prime Movers in 1986, Markel formed Altered State and performed throughout Orange County, Los Angeles and recorded their 4 song Presentation Tape which didn't take long to catch the attention of Warner Bros. Releasing their debut 8/27/1991. "Ghost Beside My Bed" single was released February 2nd 1992 and chainsawed it's way to #1 on Rock Radio in California, Texas, Michigan, NY, Arizona and Florida and went top 20 nationally. Altered State returned to the studio in late 1992 and began recording the ambitious and genre-challenging :[dos]:.
:[dos]: was released October 5th 1993 and included a beefed up version of Markel's "Strong As I Am", recorded at the band's Manager's insistence and was released as the first single. Warner's asked for an acoustic version of the song as well for radio. This version is very sought after by fans due to the dueling guitar solo between Curtis Mathewson and Gregory Markel. The requests and love for the song has made "Strong As I Am" a staple in Markel's performances to this day.

Osterberg began to play drums in the fifth grade, first starting with rubber pads glued to plywood before his parents bought him a drum set. Osterberg began his music career as a drummer in various high school bands in Ann Arbor Michigan including The Iguanas, who covered several records such as Bo Diddley's Mona in 1965, He then began exploring local blues-style bands such as the Prime Movers which he joined at 18 years old. The Prime Movers gave him the nickname Iggy for having played in The Iguanas. According to biographer Jim Ambrose, the two years he spent in the band made him aware of art, politics and experimentation. The seeds of Pop's stage persona were sown when he saw the Doors perform in 1967 at the University of Michigan and was amazed by the stage antics and antagonism displayed by singer Jim Morrison. Morrison's extreme behavior while performing in a popular band inspired the young Pop to push the boundaries of stage performance. In addition to Jim Morrison and The Doors influence on the band, Pop also attributes the Stooges getting jump started after seeing an all girls rock band from Princeton New Jersey called The Untouchable. In 1968 one year after their live debut and now dubbed the Psychedelic Stooges the band signed with Elektra Records, again following in the footsteps of The Doors, who were Elektra's biggest act at the time. Pop himself told the story in the 2016 Jim Jarmusch documentary film about The Stooges Gimme Danger. The Stooges first album The Stooges was produced by John Cale in New York in 1969, Both it and the follow-up, Fun House produced by Don Gallucci in Los Angeles in 1970 sold poorly. Though the release of Fun House did not receive the recognition expected it was later ranked Number 191 in Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time in 2003. Shortly after the release of Fun House, the group disbanded because of Pop's worsening heroin addiction. In 1971 without a record deal, the Stooges kept performing in small clubs with a five piece lineup that included both Ron Asheton and James Williamson on guitars and Jimmy Recca on bass, Pop having fired Dave Alexander the previous year when he turned up for a gig unable to play because of his chronic alcoholism. That year Pop and David Bowie met at Max's Kansas City a nightclub and restaurant in New York City. Pop's career received a boost from his relationship with Bowie when Bowie decided in 1972 to produce an album with him in England. With Williamson signed on as guitarist, the search began for a rhythm section. However since neither Pop nor Williamson were satisfied with any players in England, they decided to re-unite the Stooges. Ron Asheton grudgingly moved from guitar to bass, The recording sessions produced the rock landmark Raw Power. After its release Scott Thurston was added to the band on keyboards or electric piano and Bowie continued his support, but Pop's drug problem persisted. The Stooges last show in 1974 ended in a fight between the band and a group of bikers, documented on the album Metallic KO Drug abuse stalled Pop's career again for several years.

Their latest album Periphery IV: Hail Stan just released earlier this month and they’ve become quite creative with their video uploads. There’s a full documentary about the album’s creative and recording process on their youtube channel. And more than that, they also run their own label now. In this video we’ll talk about their discography, band members and a few background stories to get you up to date with the band
