The mansion was built as a summer "cottage" retreat between 1888 and 1892 for Alva and William Kissam Vanderbilt. It was a social landmark that helped spark the transformation of Newport from a relatively relaxed summer colony of wooden houses to the now legendary resort of opulent stone palaces. The fifty-room mansion required a staff of 36 servants, including butlers, maids, coachmen, and footmen. The mansion cost $11 million ($260,000,000 in 2009 dollars) of which $7 million was spent on 500,000 cubic feet (14,000 m³) of marble. William Vanderbilt's older brother Cornelius Vanderbilt II subsequently built the largest of the Newport cottages, The Breakers, between 1893 and 1895.
Two music videos have been made for this song, both of which can be found on the deluxe edition of Silent Shout. One depicts an early 20th-century or late 19th-century family, presumably one in a British Colony in Asia. The second video depicts a day in the lives of a family of mice, who have built a fairly comfortable house behind a wall in a human house. It uses stop-motion animation.
The duo's first tour took place in 2006, along with the release of their critically acclaimed album Silent Shout. They have won a number of Swedish Grammis, but refuse to attend awards ceremonies. They have appeared in public wearing Venetian masks. Andersson released a solo album under the name Fever Ray in 2009, while Olof Dreijer released several EPs as Oni Ayhun in late 2009 and early 2010. The Knife disbanded in November 2014 after playing the final dates of their Shaking the HabitualTour.
History
Formed in Gothenburg in 1999, amidst the deterioration of Karin's former group Honey Is Cool, the group perhaps gained stronger international recognition when José González covered their song "Heartbeats" on his 2003 album, Veneer. The cover was used by Sony in a commercial for BRAVIA television sets, and released as a single in 2006. The group commented on this in a Dagens Nyheter article, claiming that Sony paid a large sum of money to use the song. Despite the group's anti-commercial views, they justified the transaction by citing their need for money to establish a record company.
Autopsia is an art project dealing with music and visual production. Autopsia gathers authors of different professions in realization of multimedia projects. Its art practice began in London in the late 1970s, continued during the 1980s in the art centers of former Yugoslavia. Since 1990, Autopsia has acted from Prague, Czech Republic. At the beginning of its activity, Autopsia issued dozens of MCs. In the period after 1989, twenty CDs were issued, at first for Staalplaat from Amsterdam, then for German label Hypnobeat and London's Gymnastic Records. One of its compositions is a part of the soundtrack for Peter Greenaway's The Pillow Book. Music production of Autopsia can be classified as experimental, breakcore, avant-garde, ambient, industrial; it's associated with a large graphic production which consists of original graphic objects, design of flyers, posters, booklets, CDs, experimental films and audio installations.
"The Knife" is a protest song by progressive rock band Genesis from their second album Trespass from 1970. It was performed live often in the band's early days (a live version appears on the Genesis Live album from 1973) and has appeared sporadically in the band's setlists all the way up through 1982 (after 1975, however, they performed an edited four-minute version). The first half of the song was released as a single in May 1971 with the second half as the B-side, but it did not chart.
The song was unusually aggressive for Genesis at the time, as most of their work consisted of soft, pastoral acoustic textures and poetic lyrics. It features a bouncy, march-like organ riff, heavily distorted guitars and bass, and fast drumming. (Peter Gabriel said he wanted to write something that had the excitement of "Rondo" by The Nice.) In the lyrics of the song, Gabriel, influenced by a book on Gandhi, "wanted to try and show how all violent revolutions inevitably end up with a dictator in power".

The Journey of Designing a Home Made of Marble (House Tour)

Inspired by restrained natural colours and materials, the marble chosen in partnership with Artedomus is featured throughout the whole house, including the façade and interior design.
Being taken along the house tour of Grange Road Residence, you are transported to another location. The home made of marble is, at its core, a complete illustration of scale, light and proportion. Working with a European design inspiration, much of the interior design is furnished from Italian imported furniture pieces. A grand staircase, complete with polished plaster balustrade centres the internal architecture of the marble home; the four storeys gave the space the opportunity for light to travel down from a skylight.
Inspired by techniques used for thousands of years, the marble and stone supplied by Artedomus is vital to completing the home. It feeds into the balance between warm and cold, fine-tuned by the veins and tonality of each individual slab of marble. Whilst the exterior and architecture of the home is based on warmer tones, the interior design is based around a cooler palette. A hero piece within the home, breaking up the larger spaced rooms, is the custom-built Wyrie Table from the Artedomus New Volumes range, designed by industrial designer Nick Rennie. The marble has a unique quality to it, giving each element character and breathing life into the internal spaces.
The house tour of the marble home exposes how contrasting light and shadow can add a layer of richness to any interior and exterior space, especially as the light picks up intricate detailing of the marble pieces and bringing with it surprising and innovative depth.

Welcome back to another episode, in this episode we're bringing you what we consider one of the best interior designs we've come across!
Christelle, the owner & interior designer, of this home sought to incorporate various design styles into the four-story house with six ensuite bedrooms and eight bathrooms. Throughout the entire house, solid concrete was used and featured as accent walls.
The project was a true "labor of love" for the designer, who navigated towards a blend of tropical luxury and Japandi aesthetics, combining Japanese and Scandinavian influences. Although minimalism wasn't the chosen path, a zen color palette was adopted, and the designer incorporated an array of luxurious textures like tinted mirrors, marble flooring, walls, and countertops. Every design element was carefully included in the Mansion to ensure that each client could find their preferred space within the home.
Attention to detail was paramount in every corner of the house, with carefully curated artwork and a focus on creating a home that would stand the test of time. The design deviated from conventional approaches, as the interior designer aimed to create a unique and personal story for her home. Inspired by the changing seasons and their emotions, she envisioned the poetic novel of rain on glass doors and the wind gently blowing linen curtains, and she was determined to bring that vision to life.
During winter, the family retreats to the movie room in the basement for hibernation. The guest bedroom is a testament to the designer's affection for Mediterranean design, where a soft yet robust bar with arches represents the harmony of softness and strength, symbolizing her husband. The home truly becomes a reflection of the designer's essence and personality.
Massive thank you to the Christelle for opening up her home for us to share with you guys!

I cut your nails and comb your hair I carry you down the stairs I wanted to see right through from the other side I wanted to walk a trail with no end in sight The moment we believe that we have never met Another kind of love it's easy to forget When we are all alone then we do both agree We have a thing in common this was meant to be You close my eyes and soothe my ears You heal my wounds and dry my tears On the inside of this marble house I grow And the seeds I sow will grow up prisoners too The moment we believe that we have never met Another kind of love it's easy to forget When we are all alone then we do both agree We have a thing in common this was meant to be Now where's your shoulder What is it's name What's your scent Say it again If it goes faster can you still follow me It must be safe when it's on TV I raise my hands to heaven of curiosity I don't know what to ask for What has it got for me? The others say we're hiding It's as forward as can be Some things I do for money
