VINTAGE HALLOWEEN BOOK "The Headless Horseman" by Washington Irving and retold by Cherney Berg
VINTAGE HALLOWEEN BOOK STORY TIME!
This is the version of The Headless Horseman that I remember hearing in the library at Truman J. Moon Elementary School in Middletown NY. I loved the story and also the incredible pictures. This book was written in 1970.
The Headless Horseman is a fictional character from the 1820 short story "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" by American author Washington Irving. The story, from Irving's collection of short stories entitled The Sketch Book of Geoffrey Crayon, Gent., has worked itself into known American folklore/legend through literature and film, including the 1999 Tim Burton film Sleepy Hollow.

The dullahan can be male or female, but they are always headless, a characteristic that makes sense given Ireland’s social and religious history. Ultimately this monster is a personification of death, a monster that reminds us all not ...
