The Grid, hosted by podcasting and public radio host Jesse Thorn, is an American fifteen-minute weekly rundown of what is trending in indie culture. Each week on IFC, The Grid recommends movies, music, games, and gadgets of interest. Joining Jesse are an array of up-and-coming comedians, offering their own opinions on what is trending now. The Grid aired every Thursday at 7:45 p.m. EST, 4:45 PST on IFC. Various segments from the week's episode can be viewed online at IFC.com and on social networking websites.
Production
The Grid premiered on IFC on September 9, 2010 The program's executive producer is Michael B. Pressman, and the producer is Michelle Von Wald. Each episode is written by Joshua Weiner.
Although Jesse Thorn is the only correspondent to appear on every episode, he did not become the host until episode 104. The first two episodes were hosted by Alex Berg, and the third was hosted by correspondent Sarah Lane. Other correspondents included Alonso Duralde, Whitney Pastorek, Kat Lyn, Ryan Downey, Taylor Orci and Shira Lazar. The director of these episodes was Lew Abramson.
The series follows an international Counter-Terrorism team whose purpose is to combat terrorism; the series focuses on the team's mission to disrupt a terrorist cell bent on destroying the world's economic foundations. The team is assembled following an incident in which a failed Sarin attack in London leaves several terrorists and innocents dead. The team is composed of: Maren Jackson, an administrator for the National Security Council; Max Canary, SAC of the FBI'sJoint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF); and Raza Michaels, an expert on Middle Eastern culture who works for the CIA; in addition, the American team works with two British Intelligence agents, senior field agent Derek Jennings of MI5 and mid-level administrator Emily Tuthill of MI6. Maren Jackson must fight to keep the team together, when they are misled by the terrorists and evacuate Manhattan's subways under a false alarm.
The Grid was a weekly newspaper in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, published from 2011 to 2014. The paper was launched on May 12, 2011, after owner Torstar discontinued publication of its previous title Eye Weekly.
According to editor Laas Turnbull, the publication's strategy was to be a "younger, hipper, more provocative version of Toronto Life in a weekly guise". Print circulation was as high as 70,000 per week, while website hits averaged 400,000 unique visitors per month.
Contributors to the new publication included several former Eye Weekly writers. As of July 2014 there were 22 staff, of whom 12 worked in editorial capacities.
On July 2, 2014, Torstar announced that The Grid would be discontinued as of July 3, due to insufficient revenues. 162 issues were printed in all.
The Worldwide LHC Computing Grid (WLCG), formerly (until 2006) the LHC Computing Grid (LCG), is an international collaborative project that consists of a grid-based computer network infrastructure incorporating over 170 computing centers in 36 countries, as of 2012. It was designed by CERN to handle the prodigious volume of data produced by Large Hadron Collider (LHC) experiments.
By 2012, data from over 300 trillion (3×1014) LHC proton-proton collisions had been analyzed, and LHC collision data was being produced at approximately 25 petabytes per year. As of 2012, The LHC Computing Grid had become the world's largest computing grid comprising over 170 computing facilities in a worldwide network across 36 countries.
Background
The Large Hadron Collider at CERN was designed to prove or disprove the existence of the Higgs boson, an important but elusive piece of knowledge that had been sought by particle physicists for over 40 years. A very powerful particle accelerator was needed, because Higgs bosons might not be seen in lower energy experiments, and because vast numbers of collisions would need to be studied. Such a collider would also produce unprecedented quantities of collision data requiring analysis. Therefore, advanced computing facilities were needed to process the data.
"The Grid" is an episode of The Outer Limits television show. It was first broadcast 14 July 2000, during the sixth season.
Introduction
A man investigating the murder of his brother uncovers a mind control project controlled by a super-intelligent computer.
Opening narration
Plot
Scott Bowman gets a strange message from his brother Peter, and decides to drive back to their hometown of Halford, Washington, to see what's wrong. But when he gets there, he discovers that Peter is dead and his wife Eileen has been charged with his murder.
But that's not the only shock awaiting Scott. The town where he grew up has been transformed. Antenna towers dot the landscape and the people act strangely, as if they are under some kind of sporadic mind control. Scott goes to the jail to visit Eileen, where she warns him about the towers — just moments before grabbing the Sheriff's gun and killing herself. This turn of events convinces Scott that he needs to investigate further. He meets with a former colleague of Peter's, Dr. Jim Holbrook, who seems friendly, but doesn't give Scott any information.

The soundtrack from the movie TRON Legacy is the best i've ever listened to. So i've cut the song "The Grid", by Daft Punk, into a long version, because the original version is too short.
